    Wings make the Zergling look less mundane. They cover that main body of the Zergling so you can't actually see what is going on beneath them. The masses of wings is something that is visually pleasing.

    imagine swarms of zerglings gliding off a cliff and landing directly on top of formation of siege tanks, that would make a awesome cinematic scene :drunk:

    Ive noticed that a zergling jumps and flaps his wing about every second leap, may by if you are very lucky your army of zerglings jumps at the same time (drool) :eek:

    That wouldn't be good! Then it would seem like they're an organized, uniform army! That's not the image I want to get when i picture Zerg. Zerg have to be the most disorderly, unorganized, raging, swarming mass that has ever existed! If you're able to get them all jumping at once it would completely destroy their image!

    LOL! I like your Marine-Cat very much. However you should never limit yourself to one team. Use all the teams to find out their strengths and weaknesses so you can exploit them whenever you play against them. Personally, Zerg is my favorite team, but I was always best at Terran. Never really used Protoss too much, but that's not saying that they aren't awesome!

    I just stumbled upon this badass image of a Zergling. I'm linking it for those who have not seen it yet (like me)

    I'd prefer Zerglings to be insects not only because being an insect emphasizes that you're expendable but because these wings look good only on insects imho.

    Yeah. That picture is great, but I still don't like their wings.

    That image looked way too mammalian to be an insect, despite the insect wings. I very much like the idea of having the Zerg as an insectoid race, because they come in far greater numbers, almost in plagues. No other type of creature in mass numbers are as destructive as insects are.

    Well, the Terrans are also plague-ish, lol! Humans and insects are the biggest biomasses on our planet, even tho they have far more diversity than us. People overlook the fact that only Protoss are about a smaller army, and the difference between Zergs and Terrans is in skills (regeneration/healing & repair, reproducibility/mobility, higher HP/longer range).

    Compare the amount of HP of a zergling spawn and a marine spawn. Each ling has less HP, but there are 2. Each Hydra has more HP than any Terran infantry (Vikings/Goliaths are mechs, and cost the double of a Hydra). Zergs are indeed about HPs, and Terran is about range. It is only a common logical ordering of the races by some characteristic, and Zerg get associated to numbers because of the 3 lava per Hatchery, along with Hatcheries lesser cost compared to a CC or Nexus.

    However, even if Zerglings make for a whole bunch of units in the map, the Terrans are also a race relying on zounds of infantry units. If you stick only with the vehicles, they're not so easily replaced, and still aren't as hard to kill. Terrans usually make a bunch of infantry too. I think i'll start a campaign: "Don't label the Zerg!" lol

    It is true that Terran also have large armies, but it is still not even comparable to the size of the Zerg army. Protoss are the classic example of a small army with strong units. The Zerg are the classic example of a large army, with weak units. The Terran are somewhere in between.

    But I've just sampled how Zerg units are stronger than Terran ones, lol! How can terran be somewhere in between, if most of a lot of their units only surpass Zerglings in HP? Goliaths have the double cost of Hydras, are a vehicle, and yet they have less HP than even a Zealot.

    Ultras have 400 HP, more than any other ground unit, and only beaten by Carrier and BC. Zerg Structures have more HP also. Zergs are not exactly about weakness, they're about being hard to kill. if that is through numbers, or armor, or higher HP, doesn't matter. It's the survival that matters.

    The Protoss sure have stronger tougher units, but their production method is much slower and costly. Every unit is also a bigger loss. This ranking is too simplistic to fill the shoes of SC1 complexity, imo. That's what I'm trying to say. Imo:

    Zerg: Hard to kill;
    Terran: Good skills;
    Protoss: Valuable units;

    They cannot be put in a line.

    EDIT: Even tho Zergs do lack defense, and in early games are harder to hold tons of units. But it is a job for the early expo, and doesn't escape the survival thing.

    Their armor is a carpace, meaning that it's a shell. I don't think that having a skin is a prerequisite for having a carpace.

    ^^to ijffdrie

    that book hauls, best out of the series IMO.

    Anyway, I think if the wings are used for something useful that isn't imbalanced, they should stay.

    If not, take them off.

    But we've already concluded that the wings are used to hover over other Zerglings when moving in tight packs.
