you know what, i used to be against zerglings having wings and marines having shields.
but when i see that both these terran and zerg are going to have these changes when upgraded, for some reason i'm cool with it now.

I didnt like how the lings looked in the br without wings. I actually prefer the sc1 model over the sc2 model. If they do get the wings with an upgrade in the final version of the game, I'll get it for the design change as well as being more useful.

I like the wings, just because it makes it easy to tell that the lings have been upgraded. I always found it a little hard to notice whether or not a zerg player had gotten ling speed if there wasn't another unit moving around near it to compare it to in starcraft 1.

It is strange : in BR2 the lings had no wings. And once they were upgraded (speed upgrade) the moved faster but still didn't get the wings. So I wonder : will they get wings or never ? Weren't they supposed to get wings thanks to the speed upgrade ?

Same question for the marine : he gets his shield once his armor upgrade is full.

The marine gets his shield when you get an upgrade that gives them +10hp, it's not related to their armor upgrades.

You know i dont think in the game you will be able to zoom up and see them up close but if they make the zerg quicker i say no because usually i have problems with the zergs being so quick

the zerg are mostly melee fighters. Without darm swarm, they need to be faster than ever if they want to even be able to engage the terran armies later in the game.

As I already stated, I think the lings w/o wings look horrible. I really hope the current model wont be the model used when they finalize the game.

ok, that means the lings don't get their wings thanks to the speed upgrade.

Both the zergling speed and marine shield are upgrades seperate from the universal upgrades for infantry/zerg ground units.

I don't like the idea of randomly with or without wings, the zerg are uniform, zerglings should have identical DNA and be exactly the same.

Where'd you pull that from? We've been told that Zerglings get wings after their speed upgrade in the exact same way that Marines get shields after their health upgrade.

Doesn't it make the ling seem bigger when it has wings?

at first, zerglings were like, little ant lizards
now, they seem to have evolved into gnats
maybe in starcraft 3, they are going to fly and will be the basic air unit

I prefer the Zerglings with wings. The Zerglings without wings ,as someone said above, look like slugs.

I like the idea of them flying maybe make it a costly upgrade in the last tier
it would make gameplay a lot more unique.

Sry this is from reading like the first two pages
    Ignor me.

I'm all for the wings, and I'd still love to see some sort of limited flight or cliffhopping ability. Mostly for how awesome that would look, but also that making the cheapest unit a little stronger and versatile seems very fitting with Zerg strategy. Plus there could be in game balance...I imagine they'd be pretty easy to shoot out of the air.

Hell, what I really want is this:

But yea, I guess decoration's pretty cool too. Like fins on cars.
    Whatever. -.-

    Lets breakdown the zergling..

Zerg - alien, insect, monster, grotesque, freak
Ling - small, minor, mini, somewhere deep below a chain of command

    - So where is the wing? yes we don't judge the book by it's cover but for me I like my zerglings more meatier than getting some useless pair of unit deco. Let's face it, a wing for a zergling could possibly hinder its speed factor due to physics but if this is an inevitable evolution maybe this can be a trade for the speed upgrade. Either choose wings for cliffing, or speed for harassing.

Where is the wing? What about in the small, swarming mass of insectoid vermin? 'Meatier' doesn't really suit the low in the chain of command, nor does it suit small, minor, mini or even insect.

Also, wings could just as easily help streamline the Zergling as it could hinder it. Zerglings are hardly the most streamlined creatures to begin with, with numberous limbs and horns splayed in every which way, so wings could just as easily provide a specific, and above all, streamlined path for the air to follow. It could also give some nice downwards force as the air passes over it, acting similar to a spoiler on a fast moving car.

Given the fact that the wings are coupled with the Zergling's faster movement speed mutation, I think it's a touch more likely that they're intended to be advantageous.
