With the colossus I can imagine you might actually have to build some supporting units to avoid you cracklings from becoming a pile of ash

I hope there will be an upgrade to make the Zerglings even more powerful against Zealots and
Firebats. If they are still in the game.

That would kind of ruin their profile. Zerglings should be small, weak, expendable and cheap units that can be created in masses.

Watching zerglings dying en mass is very satisfying..regardless of who controls the zerglings.

Just transform a few cracklings into banelings, the colossus won't last long. The colossus may be able to kill cracklings easily, but banelings just to too much damage fot the colossus to survive for long.

blocking with pylons ?! not a good idea.. to counter zergling rush , protoss players must block with forge and gateway backed with 2 photon cannon.

for terran, well supply with barrack, and the barrack acts as a gate :p

Blocking with forges and gateways? I've never seen anyone do that before...
For terran its better to block with supply depot, its cheaper and gives supply too.

with bunkers and siege tanks right behind them for maximum protection. A Battle Cruiser never hurt either.

Spamming Zerglings are effective in the early game, but they become less effective once the enemy has firebats, lurkers, a sufficient number of zealots, siege tanks or reavers. After that, they're next to useless. Therefore, I would spam zerglings only when it is a good idea to.

Not all defences can be overrun by cracklings, such as siege tanks behind supply depots or lurkers.
Therefore, we should spam hydralisks instead of cracklings.

but cracklings work well on most other defences, spawning hydras costs a lot more than zerglings and for less numbers.

Spamming's a pretty bad idea in Starcraft, even if it's hydras instead of lings. The game's all about making combinations of units and how each unit can supplement another and using that advantage against a less well-composed army. Even though I did spam units before, especially lings, it's not recommended, especially for Terran and Protoss. But still, it's pretty cool to see fifty gazillion lings overrun an enemy base.

spaming hydralisks leaves no weakness, good against both ground and air units

knows this from fighting enemy hydralisks

Hydralisk spam can be easily countered with HTs, Reavers, siege tanks, etc. The best strategy of all is to combine them with other units that cover its weaknesses. The ling hydra combo is a classic that always works well. Use lings as cannon fodder to take the hits from enemy units and soften them up while the hydras move into position.

    spam for the swarm!

Nothing is more fun than to watch 50 lings pour into your enemy's base and wreak havoc. Muahahaha, and when they die off, produce more and attack again. Or better yet, produce while they are attacking and put the gather point in the base your fighting.
