    Does this mean that the lurkers can be attacked without a detector?

    If the thing about lurkers burrowing shallow is still true in the current build, I think it just means you can tell a lurker is there by spotting an odd patch of ground, which nullifies the 'stop lurkers' strategy where one could force their lurkers to not attack until an enemy army was right on top of them, allowing for a single surprise attack that can catch all the enemies forces in one massive combined AOE attack.
