Zerg-Protoss Hybrids

GuiMontag, what I meant is that certain hybrid units will be featured alongside certain missions in the campaign. Just like the Dark Templar in the original Protoss campaign. In certain missions in the SC2 campaigns, we are given 5-6 hybrid units that we can use and are expendable. But apart from that they'll be non playable

 

I doubt that there even going to bring them into the story right now, cause Blizz said they wanna focus on the 3 current races. And Duran said to Zeratul that when they awake they would set the universe aflame or w/e. So I think there gonna save them for a huge apocalyptic storyline later on where all hell breaks loose. But that's just my opinion, i hope i'm wrong, been wanting to see what there made of since i first played Dark Origins

 

well if the hybrids were playable at all id say that it would be in the terran campain, theres no way that protoss or zerg will allow the abominations to live. Mayb a terran force will take controll of durans experiments and then use the hybrids against the other races
but i still think we will only be able to kill them, mayb we can play a campain as durans servent or sumfin ;D

 

They might not be added initially, but they could be added in a possible expansion to the game. I mean the Dark Templars were added in Brood Wars, so it's not unlikely that they would be added as a playable race later on. Also the Hybrids would probably act in a similar role to that of the Aliens in the playable games - they require Zerg/Protoss hosts and they hatch and assimilate the genes of both species, then go out on a hunt and create havoc. It would not surprise me if the Hybrids happened to be the equivalent of a hero with mass destructive capabilities and lots of health, and either be a singular unit or a swarm that requires intense tactical handling in order to defeat them.

 

I hope they play a really really big role in the end of the game, leading up to another expansion. Of course Blizzard better do a damn good job with SC2 itself to make sure i buy the expansion, but so far i haven't been let down :thumbup:

 

maybe u can built hybrids.... maybe you can built a terran "queen"[like zerg,who can make infested terrans, the terraner can make hybrids..

 

I could see them being a Zerg unit, because it would have to represent the psionic influence, sophisticated form and thought of the Protoss but the ferocious, progressive and non-negotiating spirit of the Zerg. In terms of mind they have to be closer to the Zerg. I bet that a Protoss building can be infested.

Also to the person who said it would be Terran cause the other races would execute hybrids... the Protoss yes, but the Zerg? The original Overmind was trying to make hybrids since the beginning and they love absorbing new genes.

 

If the Hybrids are playable in the singleplayer, it would most likely be like how the Naga worked in WC3. They will have their own set of units and buildings. If that is the case, Blizzard might save them for the expansion. They want to see an initial reaction for the Hybrids before they jump off the boat to decide whether the Hybrids can be added in the expansion. Of course, if they were added to the expansion, they would need some balancing. But since the expansion is still a long way, maybe Blizzard is planning to add them while they try to balance the Hybrids once SC2 is released. They would have plenty of time to make the Hybrids more distinctive compared to the other 3 races.

maybe as part of the expansion, Duran the a**hole decides to fire up his army of hybrids and there'll be maps and levels where they'll be guarding some chokepoints or expansions, much like wc3. If that's the case, f*** them, i don't a "Warcraft in space"

 

I think the hybrids will be a very broad race consisting of 2-3 units, and 2-3 buildings. Most hybrids would be brutally large (about the size of an archon), with powerful psychic attacks, and would be spawned in a similar fashion as the zerg. So in a sense, they would have units as powerful as the protoss, but with the zerg's massing capabilities. Although overpowered for sure, It would fit their style well. I wouldn't have them any other way then overpowered, it will only make it more fun and reward able to conquer them in the campaigns . . . if that is they are even present in the game.

 

I'm just curious what you all think bout the hybrids heres a picture i found if u guys havnt seen this http://limitedgaming.com/files/18/statisbig.jpg and for those of u who know nothing about the hybrids in a secret mission in Brood wars zeratul found a protoss/zerg hybrid and then duran explanined that even if zeratul did destoy the hybrid it wouldnt matter beacause he alrdy planted tons of hybrids on tons of different worlds so zeratul destroyed that hybrid then left watever world he was on at that time for info on duran look it up on some other post lol and im not sure wat that creature is near the hybrid in the tank but to me it looks like a succesful hybrid guarding the others looks like he has a spear with the energy from the protoss zealots little dagger sword things at the end of the spear

 

Looks like a wasp ape. All in all, it's about as ugly as the protoss and zerg babies should be. I guess that's how the protoss men know their wife has been cheating on him. Maybe that's how Duran got the hybrids in the first place...

 

Thought it might be good to have a collective for how people envision the Zerg / Protoss mix.

For myself I imagine them hatching out of diamond eggs, really shiny with energy glowing inside. Then when born they are like an all black animal with sweeping traits instead of being all sharp and spiked. Like a smooth hydralisk. Then energy swirling about it's body as it taps into the psionic abilities (preferably dark blue).

hmm... a Protoss + Hydralisk face with a mouth that doesn't open when it speaks, since it can only communicate telepatically.

Has Kerrigan-like wings, again charged with Psi.

 

And then I could also see them running fast but silently, except for like a light crackle because of all the energy distortion their minds cause. Silent psi destroyers that regenerate... and what if they could instant kill nearby Ghosts automatically, because they have psi ability? Like they just burn the Ghost's mind away and they fall dead. Now I'm getting all excited like a bachelor at a strip club.

i heard that there will another race called kerrigan i heard about this in ign.com but they also say that blizzard is still not sure however i cant find the link

 

Umm, no. There definitely will not be a race called Kerrigan.
