    @Blackskies, furrer.. You keep talking about balance. I don't think you've thought this through.

    Let me make it very clear; Giving the hydra(even the SC1 hydra) melee will:
    * NOT change balance in any way.
    * NOT increse/reduce hydra damage.
    * NOT affect the "dancing" aspect of the game.
    * NOT overlap the zerglings roll in any way, since zerglings _must_ attack melee.
    * NOT be a problem AI-wise.

    * Make the unit better lore-wise.
    * Be Awsome. Imagine a bunch of hydras vs zealots. Back row spitting and front line chopping away!

    Come on. This is how the hydra was intended and should be.

    Lol, such a contridiction. You just said it doesn't need one gameplay wise but it needs it lore-wise yet you explain why it should have an in-game melee attack... It has one lore-wise refer to movies plz, also it uses it's claws to dig, climb (possible climber and it climbs in videos), helps it move around, and it can make it more stable when firing it's spines.

    i meant it was lore-wise because it wouldn't have any effect on the game
    it would just be a cool animation that made the game more realistic.

    and before anyone says nothing about this game is not realistic, i no
    imo it would just look cooler of they used those big claws of theirs

    the hydra should have one because they are there and if you were a huge beastly with big claws and little cannon type things on your back you would use them if something came running up to you.

    Also if the claws do the same dmg as the spines then there would really be no imbalance created by them being able to melee.

    "dancing" with them also would not be an issue because if they are not in melee range they wont go and run into it to use the claws they would shoot.

    range ftw

    Good explanation. Hopefully people will actually understand why claws wouldn't change anything. And to anyone else about to complain about giving them a melee animation: READ THE POSTS!!! They explain clearly enough why they don't/shouldn't affect gameplay.

    thank you Wick742 for reading what i and others have said on the melee attack

    If you look at the last 15 or something pages that's pretty much what everyone's been saying. Including me. :p So if there happens to be anyone who says the same reason for not having the animation over again I will be... displeased.

    Hydras are pretty much dead when any melee unit catch them anyway, I say its a waste of Blizzards time to be creating an attack animation for a ranged unit.
    I mean yea it would be cool to see the Hydra make a final valiant attempt not to die by slashing violently but it isn't really needed. I'm even suprised such energy has been put itno a discussion on something which doesn't change gameplay.

    All I'm saying is if I was a Hydralisk I'd shoot you in the face if you came close since you can't block that and you're pretty much blind afterwards, also why expend the energy if it can be put into something else.

    Because it would look so cool

    but your point is valid in that by the time a melee unit has reached the hydra is almost dead anyway

    Ok we ignore gameplay and only think of grafics and lore, that will result in a really good game!
    It was already said that shall we then have Marines using melle attack with their guns?

    OK comp got a virus but I'm back to join the fight.
    An animation like the one were talking about has absolutely no bad effects. Everything you are all saying that goes against hydras with a claw attack is not really a valid reason. If a melee attacker gets close to a hydra it does not mean its dead. hydras kill melee attackers in SC1 all the time while there right in there face and we dont even know how often hydras will get up close to units in SC2. It does not change gameplay, It wont make the game slower, and furrer i think you dont get the point that they should get a claw attack because they have claws. Instead of fighting that just sit down and think about it for a minute please.

    nice explanation! :powerup:
    I hope everyone will read it all instead of just mindlessly arguing about this will affect game play.

    hydralisk should not get a stabbing animation, hes a spitter, and up close or far away spitting is what he does.

    But he has nice big claws, that have no purpose other than use up nutrients, and look potentially dangerous.
