Will SC2 be Ready for Release in 2009?

My predication, November this year.

Blizzard has released a game every year for the past 3 years (perhaps longer?) in November.

 

Yeah i agree...most probably around november.

Well as far as I can tell except the bugs there are only animations left to construct and the renewal of some zerg buildings.. max 2 months job..
so if they fix these stuff now the beta will only be for gameplay balance only so, the release will be close enough to the beta..

 

Hmmm, honestly can't really say with Blizzard but hopefully it will be some time this year, if not I'm gonna be a little angry especially since the fact they want me to buy 3 seperate games for starcraft 2 as well.

I know .... I know Blizzard must take its time to finalize this game because you know what it will mean if the game is not balanced ? It will mean that we will get a tsunami of patches on our faces. And it will no more be 100 MB for a patch, but 600 MB and maybe 1 GB ! for one patch !

Just see one example with WoW.

 

Are you joking?!!! World Of WarCraft's patches were big because they added content, dungeons, and other models into the game that take up a lot of space. Balance changes will never be above a few megabyte. Even if they added tons and tons and tons of animations, it wouldn't be anywhere NEEEAAAAARRRRR a World Of WarCraft patch in size.

Anyway I think this game will be released by the end of this year. Or maybe the beta I don't know. Maybe they have not finished the solo campaign yet and the storyline ?

 

No, 500MB is a lot more than you think especially in computer-generated 3D graphics where they can be compressed very well with the current technology. I wouldn't be surprised if 500MB was about what the expansions added to the multiplayer game. But, even then that's a lot of models, doodads, new tile sets, and other such models for the campaign editor.

we'll i just hope blizzard is working hard on sc2 everyday and not wasting time ****ing around with d3 or something. another title which i wouldn't mind getting ASAP. A beta release be pretty awesome for just the sheer number of home videos and content that willl get displayed over the internet once it is release will be great. My computer prolly couldn't handle the Beta if i won a beta key. so instead looking forward to other peoples videos and such over youtube

 

The StarCraft team and the Diablo 3 team (as well as the World Of WarCraft team) are self-contained. Stopping all work on the other games would not effect the development of StarCraft II.

 

my dream would be a simultaneas release of COD modern war 2 and starcrtaft 2 on nov 10.

Alpha was released/ kicked off almost 2 years ago by now there has to be a beta do you think blizzard wants people to know about so they can hack in and find it.... no they dont

 

@jacob blair theres no beta....there is a difference between the developers playing the game and having a beta.

Edit: @ Jacob: As others have said, SC2 is definitely NOT in beta yet, just alpha. I don't think it will be too far off though.

lol well i guess we have to wait and see what happens now i dont know why blizzard would want the same release date as cod4-2. They are definatly going to pick a date all on their lonesome to corner the market as much as possible so people literally count down the seconds till release and then flood the stores. Gears of war does it halo does it. so really they would prefer an epic day on release day/night for those of stay up till 12:00AM to get it at EB games or bestbuy.

but it would be awesome if D3 and SC2 released in like a SUPER BATTLE CHEST! lol man i'd like jizzz myself at that thought. hahaha
