how was the ring ever gonna help an army anyways? i mean Sauron was strong, but not superstrong and invisibility is a strong power, but not that great.
What was the deal with the ring?

No idea, but it everyone says it had lots of power. Maybe a huge INT boost or something :D

Demon Soul on the other hand...
Ever heard that Deathwing wiped out Malygos' flight? One shot from this thing

The true power of the One Ring was to take control of the others. By that he should have been able to control the Race leaders that held them. However, only the Humans were weak enough to fall to the power quick enough. It was so bad, that they became the Ring Spirits. Now Sauron -one of 10 -iirc- minions of Morgoth, the true evil guy- needed to go to war to get control. He never meant to do that, and lost. The cloack of the Ring is just a side effect it has on weaker minds. -Yes, I am a LOTR geek, a really bad case of, erm, geekness.-

if it already had the human kings, for what did he need the ring this time?

He already had the the human rings and the dwarve rings, -everyone assumes this is what Tolkien wanted- but he needed to have power over the Elven rings to be able to properly invade Loth Lorien. And he infused the ring with a part of, what seems to be- his soul. Gandalf -a sort of semi god in a human body, with all memories erased and send to kill Sauron- knew of this. That is why he knew they had to destroy it, instead of using it. Gollem wanted the Ring only because the soul of Sauron wanted it. Clear enough?

Because one was with Elrond in Rivendel, one was held by, Galadriel in in Loth Lorien. The last one was with... Gandalf. He got it from Celeborn when he first arrived in Middle Earth ages ago iirc. Sauron never knew who had them exactly. Oh, and Gandalf is not the only semi-god sent to stop Sauron. Saruman was also one, along with the Two Blue Wizards and Radagast. Radagast became obsessed with all animal life, the Blue Wizards were send to Harad, but probably got consumed by the influence of Sauron there. And we all know what happened to Saruman. Good thing he never discovered that Gandalf had the Red Ring... -That is actually what he refers to when fighting the Balrog in the movie. You know: wielder of the secret flame of Anor! -ring ring, get it?- You shall not pas!-

In reply to the original topic:

Deathwing would be a good pick.
There's definitely a lot of the world of warcraft from other games that is left to explore.

In reply to some of the off topics:

WoW 2? Is the game really that old already? Blizz wouldn't do a huge graphics rehaul that could alienate much of their base when they can just do minor updates in their expansions.
Expanding exisiting Azeroth does soud nice though.

    God yes more races!
I was pretty disappointed that wotlk didn't add any. Even more so disappointed that Dranie made the cut....they are just too back story for me. Do they even appear in WC1 or 2?
    Give the Allies Pandarians!
All the kiddies would love to play them and I would stop everything to hunt them.

Orges for the Horde sounds cool...although they would be an obvious tank race. We just don't have enough Orc warriors playing in my opinion. Taruens have more stam and can stun....Orcs are great with pets. WTF?

Yeah, World of Warcraft is what? 4 - 5 years old now?

Draenei made no real appearance until LOTS OF STUFF was retconned from Warcraft 1 & 2.

Then Metzen decided it was a good idea to approve two novelizations of Warcraft 2 and Warcraft 2's expansion.

...Then a bunch of extra sh*t was added to explain sh*t in WoW turning it into a sh*tfest.

The novels still are a good read though... I just snapped a little since I find Warcraft 2 to be the best in the series.
