    Honestly, how about just change "copper" into "tin".

    So you'd have Tin-Bronze-Silver-Gold-Platinum.

    You do know bronze will be the new copper league, it's the low league now and it will act just liek copper did when it was still in the game.

    The point is that they have added one and removed one. Still 5 Leagues. so it is Copper = Bronze, Bronze = Silver, Silver = Gold, Gold = Platinum, Platinum = Diamond.
    It would be understandable if they removed one or added one, but they did both.
    5+1=6. 6-1=5.

    Actually, technically they didn't remove the copper league, instead it's now the practice league.

    Yes, practice league is the lowest league. I'm not exactly sure how it works, there was just an option at the start to skip the practice league and go straight to placement matches, which is what I did.

    Practice league maps suck anyways. Those rocks only make it harder to get used to the actual game.

    pretty simple, copper league didnt make sense anymore. in platinum there is just to big of a range of players. there needed to be a seperate division.

    So Bronze will not make sense in a month, and Diamond will have to many not pro enough players?

    Yes, I know that. The thing was that Copper players don't stay copper players for more then a couple games, while Bronze players may stay in the league for their entire Starcraft career.

    They just added higher skill league because Platinum players skill level varied too greatly, and took away what was essentially the "stay here while you learn the basics" league.

    well realistically people in copper were players who would make 4 pylons at start, or put up 2 refinaries before putting down their first supply depo. basically players who dont even understand the game yet. but after a couple games they get the idea and proceed to bronze instantly. Bronze should be the starting point anyways.

    Diamond i would like to see pro gamer like skills on there. it would be unfair for a programer to be dominating the platinum. that would suck for most of us, since most of us are already in the platinum league. Im just saying, there should be another level to progress into after platinum. or else it would be over crowded and the range of players would just have to big of a differential.

    You need to remove 2 of the ranks, else it will not match up:p

    It does not need to match up. A server wipe and it all works :).

    And in retail they will server wipe inbetween every ladder season. Just multiplayer data of cause.

    its the same exact thing. nothing really changed. everyone thats in diamond was in plat pre patch and everyone that was in gold pre patch are now in plat.

    copper=bronze

    bronze=silver

    silver=gold

    gold=plat

    plat=diamond.

    might be confusing but just think of it the same way as it was prepatch. its the same exact thing just with diamond being the new platinum. and the skill lvl needed to get in diamond is the same. still alot of noobs in diamond. they need to add a 6th league above diamond in order to reall show off the good players from the bad.

    Theres no reason why some leagues can't be smaller (more select) than others. We can expect player skills follow a Normal distribution, with most people in the middle, and less people around the fringes.

    practice league - temporary while people graduate
    lower league --lower 20% of all graduated players
    main league -- 55% of players
    upper league -- 20% of players
    elite league -- top 5% of players. A small league.

    This would group people by skill far better than equal sized leagues.

    Diamond league is necessary because it was far too easy to get into Platinum League in the last few resets. You had players getting in Platinum (which at that time was the highest league) with a placement of 3-2 and 4-1 and then once they got in, they ended up losing a lot more games than they won, so you saw a lot of players with losing records. It wouldn't make sense for those players to be in the "best" league in my honest opinion.

    still, why not just reset everyone, re-do placement matches, and keep the old names?

    When I first heard about Diamond league, I thought it was a really good idea. I thought it was going to be a super-elite league where only the best of the best got in. But its not. It sucks.

    If you go 4-1 in placement matches you go to Diamond. Its just as easy as platinum was.

    This is how Diamond league SHOULD work. If you go 4-1 or 5-0 in placements, you should be placed in Platinum. You can only get to Diamond by dominating in your Platinum division. So you have to WORK to get to Diamond, not get placed there automatically. That would mean you'd have a league for all the top players only.

    Agree?
