Well, Overmind, although he could, left the control to the Cerebrates. I think Kerry is probably doing the same thing.... how arrogant that ***** is....

I don't believe that size is really a factor for creating warp portals. The Overmind didn't even have a physical form until late in the game. The preperations were likely just a matter of logistics, as in getting all the various parts of the swarm together and ready for the jump. Then again I've never heard anyone explain exactly how the zerg travel so its all speculation.

I always assumed the Zerg achieved warp travel the same relative way that it is achieved in the Warhammer 40k universe - that is, typically through a pooling of massive psionic energy (with or without technology to support).

So, very much in the way I imagine an overmind could reincarnate itself once enough zerg have come together, I reckon they could also achieve warp travel as long as their hive consciousness has grown powerful enough.

As far as why Kerrigan didn't sally forth to finish the job at the end of the Brood Wars? I'm with everyone else on this one. She knows something is coming, and she doesn't want to be out on the street corner with her panties around her ankles when it shows up. She is waiting.

Infested terrans are humanoids and the Overmind has full control of them, I dont think its a valid argument o_O

Yet again, I think its clear why she had to get into the Terran base and get rid of the implants of the Ghost treatment, its not because "she was still human" almost all the zerg are made by creatures that weren´t zerg originally (the only true zerg are the larvae) so her having her original form is not a way to say she is not.

I have to disagree again. The Overmind was looking for the purity of form that was given to the Protoss by the Xel Naga, as they became the only threat it had after it defeated them. He scouted the universe and found the terrans who had the potential to develop what he was looking for. She didnt have a "Zergish" brain, just an outstanding feature the Overmind was looking for.

They didnt "know" her, they just saw a green woman with tentacles on her head and just yelled that she was infested, so they were a bunch of jerks that she would have killed even if she wasnt infested anyway.

She didnt have pet cerebrates! When the overmind was alive she didnt have control over any.

This is the part I dont agree with at all. Cerebrates dont grieve over the Overmind´s death, they create a new one, and even if there wasnt one, they can perfectly live without it.. The Overmind did know what Kerrigan´s powers were, but didnt know itself would eventually die. Then, it would become a battle between Cerebrates and Kerrigan to see who was able to get control of the Zerg, and this is when Kerrigan by scheming and manipulating is able to get over them

And evolve without external sources? dont even know what that means.

Wrong again, she even has to kill them! The only cerebrate that obeys her is the one controlled by the character through the campaigns.

As stated before, NO CEREBRATES survive, the only one being the character controlled one, and thats it. This confirms that Cerebrates dont obey her but signify a threat instead.

Her objective is definetly to become the "second overmind" but not in the way of becoming immortal (she IS immortal already in the way she cannot die of old age, she cant quite resurrect if killed though) but in the way to control all the zerg. I agree she may want to find a way to assure she will survive if killed though, but that is an objective that isnt looked for in SC 1.

To finally add to the topic, I think Kerrigan eventually learns what Duran is scheming, and decides to learn by herself how to benefit from it. That is why she is in the Xel Naga temple Zeratul is in the cinematic, and by what she says, it seems she has been there for a long time and already knows the Xel Naga are coming back.

May also be that she already got control of the zerg/protoss hybrid formula, and that is the final metamorphosis she is talking about in the trailer. Zerg/Protoss hybids under her control, and also explains why she hasnt showed herself for 4 years. Must be close to complete them, or may already have.

"She didnt have pet cerebrates! When the overmind was alive she didnt have control over any."

Kerrigan had at least one pet Cerebrate after the death of the first Overmind. (Episode VI, StarCraft: Hybrid.) But maybe you meant something else.

"This is the part I dont agree with at all. Cerebrates dont grieve over the Overmind´s death, they create a new one, and even if there wasnt one, they can perfectly live without it.."

Nope. Chris Metzen's interview - StarCraft Legacy's Lore Exclusive - showed that Cerebrates cannot live long without an Overmind. That was one reason they formed a new one.

ok ok ok. all of u plz SHUT UP. HERES MY thoughts
Kerri has been prepping for 1 of 4 reasons
    1) duran
    2) xel'naga
    3) a vision of some sort of the future via psionic capability
    4) a combination of the three above possibly
kerri has to or as blade said 'she wouldn't want to be caught with her pants down if she could prevent it."
she has overlords/overseers scouting space. doesnt ne1 here get it? SHE IS THE 3RD OVERMIND. think about it. tassadar kills the first, zeratul kills second making her an overmind of sorts. it does make sense if you think about it. she also has heavy, and i mean extremely heavy antispace defenses to prevent her enemies, who is EVERYONE, from finding out what she's doing. she also said "we are becoming much, much more, as the final metamorphosis has only just begun." in my mind, i believe shes ready to kick some serious ass and then some. if she doesnt, people begin to question why. some migt say shes a coward. but whos to say she didnt INFEST terrans, and place them in the ranks of the dominion cuz as she said to mengsk"you're DIRECTLY responsible for the HELL i've been through." as a warning to him, she killed duke who we all know was a cold hearted ba***rd. she wanted to do it. HELL, maybe, just maybe, shes LOOKING for the xel'nagas themselves and as we all know, the xel'naga were an extra-galactic race and the protoss presided over 1/8 of the galaxy. whos to say EARTH wasn't one of those planets? maybe the overmind PASSED all of the knowledge he had gathered to her? it would make sense to me if he did that. a friend of mine told me the overmind had a second weapon, the leviathan brood, that had one hive on char and became dormant to annihilate again in the name of the zerg, to assimilate all life in the universe, after 100 years had passed from the overminds death. this would imply the overmind WAS prepared for his own death.
    i wanna know,
    what do you all think?

    Nope.

...Or she could just be the Queen of Blades, an entirely new kind of Zerg leader.

I don't think anyone doubts an infestation happened. And if you don't notice THIS...

Running around Terran territory, get your eyes checked.

Because I doubt the Protoss know about Earth or have even been close to the Milky Way.
In Brood War, that death then?

Yes I did. I said "when the overmind was alive" so yeah....

"This is the part I dont agree with at all. Cerebrates dont grieve over the Overmind´s death, they create a new one, and even if there wasnt one, they can perfectly live without it.."

Well, the point resides, Cerebrates dont bow before Kerrigan worshipping her, that is what I meant.

And god, theres so much people talking out of sense here... Im not from the US so ive never been on a SC lore forum before... Is this where the most "pro" are? Because besides a couple people, im not getting a great impression :p

dont pay attention to either Willy, me(ijffdrie, not Meee) and random noobs

anyways, Kerrigan did have at least one pet cerebrate during the overmind period, namely the player, later killed by zeratul, and she had another pet cerebrate, the player again, during the Brood War period.

now, as the random noob posted, there are three possibilities for what she's preparing for; Duran, the Xel'Naga, or some sort of future she detected through psionics. There are more possibilities though:
    1. She is preparing for an assault on Earth
    2. She is fighting the mysterious fourth alien race(forgot the name, it were the bipedal reptilebirds)
    3. She has found a new race with superior DNA, that she is trying to absorb
    4. Last, but not least; her Human nature is stopping her from executing her duties to the swarm.

Wait, Zeratul killed a cerebrate, but it was Zasz and it wasnt player controlled o_O
What I mean is, she didnt have control over "the player" cerebrate by herself, but it was the Overmind ordering you to protect her and do the rest of the stuff. Even though you were helping her, you werent under her control but under the Overmind.

Well, besides the theory that says that Duran is from a race antagonist to the Xel Naga, its very possible that himself is a Xel naga. And.. isnt kinda overpowered to be able to see the future? I dont think thats happening :p (but one never knows).

She would have been able to take em out without the 4 years of preparation I think... And besides, for all I have seen of SC2, they are only working on the Koprulu sector so its very unprobable to see that possibility.

    Wa?

She doesnt need 4 years for that, and can still do it while attacking cant she.

Heh, I think she proved that she is Zerg now, want more proof than BW? And the swarms answers to Kerrigan, not the other way XD

You didnt think what I said before. The overmind created the Zerg with purity of essence, and the Protoss with purity of form. If the Overmind was looking for the purity of form to absorb, maybe she was able to find that through Duran´s experiments. If she found Duran, and found out what he was doing, she may be using the "last metamorphosis" she mentioned, which is, the Protoss -Zerg breed, to her favor.

That is why she is on the moon where the prophecy of the Xel Naga is written long before Zeratul gets there. She HAS to fight against him and try to kill him before he escapes and warns everyone. She fails, Zeratul finds Raynor, and she is forced to attack everyone to keep the attention off her experiments while they are done.

That, in my opinion, is what happens in the start of SC2. Maybe too crazy?

Despite her being a parasitic species now, she still his ruled by a former ego. That's why she manifests emotions when leaving some of her former allies run away in the end of SC1, like Artanis and Jim but not the UED. She doesn't wish her enemies assimilation like the collectiviness of the Zerg, but she wishes for reconassaince of her as the ruler of the Galaxy by both races. But only for now, she hasn't completely transformed so she still keeps human impulses. That's why she ultimately prefers to fall back and consolidate forces by adaptation. She will come for the protoss because their psionic potential, as for humanity, probably will let leave a bunch of them. Or else kill everyone and leave Jim for last.

As I'm sure most would agree, She's preparing for a coming conflict, she may not know exactly what it is herself, atleast she surely didn't at the end of BW, but I'm guessing she made some kind of headway over the four years. She spared them because they were small potatos, it wasn't worth to kill them then when they could stilly prove to be useful against this mysterious new threat, she's just keeping her chess pieces in play.

As for the UED and Earth, She'll need all the zerg she can get for that, people who think that the UED fleet that was destroyed in BW was some sort of crippling event for the UED are pretty much wrong, firstly the UED is a authoritive and militaristic government, so they wouldn't be sending a force big enough to destabilize themselves at home. I just don't think that the UED General staff would be stupid enough to put all their eggs in one basket that early into the game. They can, and should comeback, possibly in the expansion.

Hopefully they'll have Stukov in the story still.

I don't think Stukov can work with the UED fleet remnants, as he'd have to explain why he's no longer dead!
