i actually like fenix as a goon, what happened to him and he turned into one???

I like his mysterious story. We don't know who he is exactly. A human ? A Zerg ? Or a .... Xel'Naga ?!

 

As a unit, Kerrigan (especially against Terrans in non base building missions). Consume is awesome to back up that zapping! Infested Duran is also pretty decent (replace Psi Storm with the somewhat less cool lockdown). Note that both these Zerg heroes regenerate. Jim Raynor as a Marine is also awesome.

The most fun unofficial hero unit, IMO, was "Meat Eater" from the Insurrection campaign. It was a heroic Zergling that did 50 damage a hit (and had the attack rate upgrade). However, it had no plot role. If it died, the mission didn't end. Etc.

As a character... where do I start? Duran is spooky and mysterious. Stukov is cool for reasons that, frankly, elude me. (He refers to his opponents as "peasants", so I don't know why I think a stuffed shirt is that cool.) Any character who has had a lot of time devoted to them - except DuGalle and Fenix - I think are really cool. Even evil bastards like Arcturus Mengsk.

 

Obviously Raynor and Tassadar for their renegade and altruistic attitudes.
I also like Zeratul and Artanis is starting to grow on me. I tend to like the attitude of the Protoss Dark Templar being individualistic and free spirited as opposed to most of their counterparts from Aiur that follow the collectivism and authoritarianism of the Khala. Raynor's riders and the Dark Templar seem to be a good match.

Ramsey is a pretty cool character too and I'm interested to see how Valarian Mengsk turns out.

Jake Ramsey is from more extended Starcraft lore. He's the main Terran character of Dark Templar Saga and generally a protagonist. Blizzard has acknowledged the legitimacy of the characters in the DTS relative to the main Starcraft stories as shown on the games.
Ramsey was a renegade archaeologist known for his unorthodox methods sent to investigate some old Xel'Naga artifacts.( If he appears in SC2 he'd probably be a Nomad unit I think) He also has some advanced psychic potential relative to most other Terrans. At the site he discovers a dying Protoss that put herself in a time bubble to slow the dying. The Protoss if a female named Zamara and a Preserver which is charged with retaining old Protoss memories. Zamara is able to plant her spirit in Ramsey's mind and thus Ramsey becomes really two characters, Zamara and Ramsey. He and Zamara are trying to get to Shakuras, the home world of the Dark Templar because Zamara has a secret to reveal to them about the Xel'Naga and they run into trouble along the way.

Valerian Mengsk is Arcturus' son and the apparent heir to the Terran Dominion. Valerian will appear in SC2. Starcraft lore describes Valerian in his early 20s and shows he has a fascination with ancient relics of the Protoss and Xel'Naga. It also describes Valerian as different in personality from his father as we all know Arcturus is power hungry. Valerian is loyal to his father but the Starcraft story hints that Valerian wishes to rule his own part of the Terran Dominion separate from his father. Theres actions Valerian takes that make you think he's kinda a bad guy ( like Arcturus) and other actions he takes that are not so bad ( more like Jim Raynor).

Valerian and Ramsey/Zamara are actually linked in the story. It was Valerian that personally sent Ramsey to go research for him. Valerian funded all of Ramsey's efforts and even sent a personal guard for Ramsey to protect him. In some parts of the Saga it appears that Valerian's intent is to betray Ramsey and in other parts its clear that Valerian goes out of his way to protect Ramsey from any trouble , even against the wishes of Emperor Arcturus, his dad. Therefore, Valerian's goals are not exactly clear and its up in the air if he turns out to be like his dad, a power hungry ass wipe , or more of a 'good guy' like Jim Raynor.

Blizzard also confirmed that the Dark Templar Saga is legitimate ( hence the relationships with Ramsey/Zamara , Valerian , etc.) and is concurrent with SC2. I know Valerian will appear in SC2 but I also think its likely that Ramsey will show up in there as well. We'll just have to wait and see what happens but I can't wait for SC2.

 

Thank you for this story. I didn't know anything about those "new" characters. Now I know who will be present in SC2.

Raynor, without any doubt.

 

It's hard to choose, SC had a lot of great characters. I'd probably go with Tassadar, followed by Raynor, Zeratul, Kerrigan (both infested and not).

 

Fenix was awesome because even though he got his but kicked the first time he came back looking for more and found it >.<
