i don't like hybrids as a 4th race ( i hate the idea of a hybrid in the first place). is there any other powerful unique race out there that could be a potential 4th race? im not even talking about the xelnaga (they are better if combined with the protoss (maybe in starcraft 2 expansion).

This isn't talking about hybrids as a 4th race. There wont even be a forth race. And Duran talked about the Hybrids in brood wars so they do/will exist.
And I doubt the Xel'Naga would ever be grouped with the Protoss because the Protoss treated them like gods till they left.

They left because they deemed the Protoss a failure because of their inability to function in unity. Also, the Xel'Naga blamed their own presence on Aiur as result of this, and harbored no hard feelings on the Protoss for attacking them since they more or less drew it upon themselves.

Exactly. So the two would not join together.
The Protoss wouldn't join cause the Xel'Naga left
The Xel'Naga wouldn't join cause they feel they caused the problem with the protoss and wouldnt want to do that again.

Yeah, and while the Xel'Naga does not harbor any hard feelings, the Protoss do, since they felt like their "gods" abandoned them. So that's an additional reason why they wouldn't join.

but they did used the xelnaga temple in broodwar to save shakuras. so maybe they can reunite again, you know if the terrans and zerg will become powerful at the end of starcraft 2. then xelnaga will try to pursue the protoss to join them or vice versa. anyway i think protoss plus the power of the xelnaga will own all.
so the zerg needs 3 overminds now, and the terran domminion must combined force with the UED to counter the proxeltossnaga. heheh. and thus new uber fast strong units will be born, created, and made for the 3 races in starcraft 2 expansion. 8)

Well personally i don't think the Xel'Naga will make an appearance in SC2 since the Protoss first attacked and killed some of them, and then the Zerg did the same and nearly annihilated their entire race. It's even possible that they did wipe them out completely, some sources point in this direction. (will look them up and link tomorrow)

EDIT: What i was trying to say but forgot (since i am tired and probably should go sleep) is that if they are still alive, they wouldn't be making any contact with lesser races as history has clearly told them that contact f*cks everything up.

If the Xel'Naga all died in the Zerg attack (which they didn't) then how/why did they make a Zerg Killing temple on Shakuras. They would have had to have made it before even coming in contact with the Zerg if the Zerg had killed them all.

I think it stood in the SC1 manual about Zerus (zerg homeworld - yes, Zerus and not Char), and it said something in line with the Overmind betraying them and sending some flying crap against them, destroying all of their ships in the process. I think BW just retconned the plot and allowed a minor part of the Xel'Naga fleet to surive so that they could go around in the world and construct anti-Zerg temples here and where since they first-hand witnessed what consuming power they had created.

Something like that.

I don't think it ever said all of their ships were destroyed.

It's open to speculation whether what they really meant by that, but considering the construction of the Shakuras temple they are probably still alive and kicking somewhere away from prying eyes.

I think the temple was for wiping out everything that needed to be wiped out, but a weird coinscedence that it used 2 crystals that matched templar and dark templar energies don't you think...

I remember reading that the Protoss harnessed the powers of the crystals left behind by the Xel'Naga. So I do not think it's a coincidence or an inconsistency.

EDIT - Oh yeah, I voted Protoss and Zerg because I am following Mr. Duran and taking his shit seriously.

Now figure out why that temple was there, I honestly don't have a clue.
I think its still a inconsistency, weren't all the xel wiped out? I hate it when they alter stories, just like the dranei in WC3

And yes, i think the Xel were meant to have died somewhere near Zerus but since they needed that "WarpgateXeltempleurajandkhalisplantedonplanets" crap...

I think they left it ambiguous whether or not the Xel'Naga were all killed on purpose.

Nah, I'm talking about the fact that the Dranei were once Eredar and some Eredar were going evil and some becoming neanderthal (dranei)
