It's just a game people. Xel'Naga could appear anytime and anywhere the writers decide would be a good twist of the story. There's no way for us to hit a fortunate guess. For example, a whole planet of Xel'Naga was located in a Pocket Universe and when they learned that their brothers have been slaughtered, they remained there and carefully prepared their attack. Blabla... So see, anything is possible, anything that might awe the players.

  2. The whole purpose of speculation is to try to make our own educated guesses and to put our heads together to form well thought-out ideas. It's for the sake of discussion and tiding us over until StarCraft. It's not for the sake of being right and ruining the story.

    Now that I seriously wonder.

Cliff hangers are the best way of drawing more audience.

I strongly believe there won't be a cliff hanger in the regular campaign in the Terran and Zerg campaign, but the secret missions unlocked after completing each campaign will contain the cliff hanger.

Otherwise, the climax won't build up, and we won't be as ecstatic for the next episode.

  4. I'm sure it'll be something similar to how StarCraft and WarCraft are set up. StarCraft, for example, ended the first product's campaigns with the death of the Overmind. That's somewhat of a cliff hanger but it's nothing like Halo 2 where you have no resolution. The entire point of those campaigns was, for the most part, to destroy the Overmind. That was successful so that was resolved.

But, at the same time, it makes you wonder what's in store for the races (Zerg especially) in the future and the epilogue sets up more plot lines to be resolved.

That's the kind of "non-cliffhanger but at the same time a cliffhanger" I'm talking about. A cliffhanger is basically where you feel that nothing was tied together or resolved in the end. That's not a very satisfying ending. It doesn't, however, mean that everything is resolved and there's nothing left of interest for the future products.

I think that the Xel'Naga will appear in some way or another through all the three campaigns, but they will a more prominent role in the Legacy of the Void.
