I thought she left one alive which was "you". Wouldn't that mean that that last celebrate was left alive and evolved like the rest of the zerg race.

No, because Kerrigan got them all killed during the Brood War Zerg campaign. You might have even killed the cerebrate you played in the mission where you had to kill two of them with Zeratul. (not in Brood War, but in the first Protoss campaign)

    @SOGEKING
You're just constantly following a single character. You aren't the character itself, because you can see it and it has a backstory etc. But you still control its actions.

    So basically:

Starcraft: you are a magistrate, cerebrate or executor. You give orders to other characters, but your "character" plays no further role in the story. Other characters do talk directly to "you", the player, but you aren't directly involved in the story.

Starcraft 2: you play as Jim Raynor, Kerrigan or Zeratul. You don't directly give orders, but you get to control the character that does. So nobody will talk to "you" anymore, but to the character you play.

So if you compare Starcraft to its sequal, you will be much more involved in the story. You know, since you actually "are" a character that gets involved in the action.

Can't explain it any clearer then that. Hope this helps anybody who had trouble understanding it. :)

Gotta love sarcasm. But anybody unable to understand it after that explanation had better have a good reason for it. I accept being really drunk, high or retarded as a good excuse. Me still being to vague isn't an option, because I'm way to arrogant to believe that the things written by me can be vague. ;)

She left that cerebrate alive at the end of Brood War, but according to Blizzard, all cerebrates are dead by the time StarCraft II, so presumably Kerrigan killed the last one. (Shadow Hunters, the novel, made this fairly clear when she saw she can directly control all zerg.) She doesn't need cerebrates now that she has queens and can produce intelligent infested terrans.

Also note, the cerebrate from StarCraft I is not the same one as in Brood War. That first cerebrate was killed offscreen by Tassadar (in the novel Queen of Blades).

    Noo! My bubble :p

I think I'm going to miss being "me", I think few, even RPGs have managed to come close to the atmosphere in SC. I think it've got something to do with how they worked the plot. In most RPGs and any game that tries to tell a story I always think it's out of place with a main character that doesn't speak a single word. It's just horrible when they try to weave in a love-story when you're a socio-path that kill men by the thousand and never says a word, STILL you get some innocent girl to like you.

In SC I think it works pretty well, how the Adjutant says things like "We picked up this transmission..." or I want to remember the characters are talking and then tell "you" like you've just been listening "Ok, lets get to work.". Still, at times I feel "me" is this huge push-over that everyone is bossing around, like you immediately side with Jim Raynor, you have to baby-sit Kerrigan and of course side with Tassadar without being given any choice :)

Yeah, I was all like: bring him in already. Then I had to side with him. Good thing you get to make some choices of your own next time.

And Kimera: thanks. I always thought that the player's character got killed during the first Protoss campaign.

Hahaha okay let.... Wouldn't it be cool if Kerri caught Jim and infected him. They could rule the universe together and Jim could finally pronounce his love for Kerri lol =D.

Maybe she'll just have a kid. There have been very vague hints.

I see it now, all the drama Blizzard is trying to put in their game is finally gotten out of hand. The Heart of the Swarm isn't like "The Core of the Swarm", it's more like "The Love of the Swarm", it'll be about Kerrigan trying to balance being a single-mother and conquer the universe, maybe even dating and talking about men with her queens, working title "Zerg and the City"... :)

Wow ! I've understood too now. It took me 2 days but now I understand !! :D No frankly I haven't seen this thread for 2 days, I have forgotten it.

Thank you to Aurora and Kimera to have been clear. Now we will get involved in the scenario because we'll play Zeratul himself, Kerrigan herself. She surely killed the last Cerebrate because she didn't need him anymore. And this Cerebrate was us, the one who had to destroy all enemies in the latest campaign of Brood War.

    EDIT

Raynor promised to Kerrigan that if there would be on person to kill her it will be him. He said that a short moment after Fenix died definetly. Raynor hates Kerrigan. But suffers from the events. He regrets not to have saved her from Mengsk's hands and also he is reproaching to himself what she has become.
As Kake ID said maybe HEART of the Swarm will turn around Kerrigan's heart. She is the core of the swarm, but in this title heart of the swarm her heart will have an important role.

I don't think Jim hates her completely. I think part of him wants to kill her because he might think that in doing so he will set her free from the swarm. Then on the other side I think he wants to kill her out of revenge and hatred for killing Fenix and Duke, and the other innocent Protoss and Terran that were mowed down in Kerrigan's destructive campaign for power.

I wonder if Jim will succeed in killing her. Even if he doesn't do it, I have a feeling that someone will end up killing her. Even if it takes Blizzard as long as Starcraft 3 to make it so....

There's got to be a reason why Jim Raynor hesitates to kill Sarah Kerrigan, and I'm guessing Alien Sex is one of his main reasons. Raynor wouldn't feel much remorse for loosing Duke and Fenix since they are no-bodies to Jim, as a soldier He has no place or time for mourning with trivial matters like that. But rather He will advance and move forward to explore new possibilities and execute a strange journey with a half-man half-alien as a partner... physically. LOL

I'm still optimistic for seeing a new zerg partner for Kerrigan, and somehow that kinda made me wonder what would a zeratul and kerrigan product would be like hahaha
