It's not real well documented, but the organe bar is based on how much total activity you have done, so eqach time you post, visit threads, tad, etc. it goes up. The green bar is activity recently, so it is a guage of how much time you have been spending on the forum the past however many days.

THe minerals think on that is just because Jon hasn't fixed it.

 

Iirc the green bar is also related to other members' activity. Like the five most active are at 100% and rest depending on how close they are to them
