You reset the votes, but didn't but symantic on there? I think a few others also said they used symantic virus protection as well.

Far as I know, Symantec made Norton antivirus, but Symantec antivirus is a different program than Norton antivirus.

NOD32 is the best anti virus and I think most people use it.

    Norton Anti-virus Internet Protection 2007

Say what you want to say about Norton but I have been just fine and dandy with them for years. This program runs quite well on a Pentium 4 with 512 MB of RAM.

I prefer a full security suite, antivirus, firewall, anti spyware all in one. For this the Norton / McAfee products are awful, they slow the machine down as soon as you put them on and interfere with other programs. I use Zone Alarm Pro security suite. Not had a security breach in two years and it costs the same as Norton Anti Virus on it's own 8)

I used Zone Alarm Pro for a year. When my friend come on my PC he made such eyes O_O and called me n00b. I was confused when he installed Kaspersky Internet Security, and after 1st scan it found 50+ viruses(I use torrents a lot ^^). Zone Alarm has great firewall, but antivirus really sux(imo), and if compare it's firewall with Kaspersky Anti-Hacker, included in soft I mentioned, they are both same in security level(not unneeded advanced options), but KIS uses much less system RAM.

Spybot is actually outdated. Try Ad-Aware. But them both are uneffective really. Most of antiviruses deal with spyware better than so-called antispyware.

My experience of ad-aware is that it's next to useless as it only deals with a very very narrow type of spyware. Kaspersky or ZoneAlarm full security suites will provide good anti spyware.

PKZeppelin is right Spybot has become a bit outdated, but you can use Spybot and SpywareBlaster together to provide good protection. This combination was actually recommended by my ISP and it works well.

I'm very surprised at that. Kaspersky is the best at heuristic virus detection (detecting a virus by it's viruslike behaviour before it has actually been discovered and put on official av updates), but you must have not been updating ZoneAlarm. 50+ viruses is an awful lot for any AV program to miss!

Well I was always updating it, I'm not statistic-pc-user. That was 3 years ago. Maybe present ZA Pro is more useful? But I don't care, I lost a trust to them. I was looking on many antivirus comparision lists, had tried many of them by myself, so honestly can say that the best choice is NOD 32 or Kaspersky solutions, especially if you are very active user.

Yeah, it was probably fully infected, so you didn't patiently wait while scan finish, and just removed it ^^

i use none of those, i use 4 programs that have specialized tasks than one "take care of them all" programs

all of them slowed my computer down so much that it was like a pentium derived celeron processor running windows vista.

i use comodo firewall, avg free 7.5, avira antivira and spybot search and destroy (i configured all of them to make them work at their best and so far not even one virus!!!) lol
