I wish you could make an Archon from a High and a Dark Templar. The Hybrid Archon... ???

Oh, I'm sure it'll be in SC2. The coup de grâce, so to speak.

Same thing as a HT/DT merging, only it'll probably have better spells if Archons merge. I can't think of anything they might look like, except for the name Purple-Hearted Archon. ;D ;D ;D

If they merged, that would like be a attacking dark archon, but with dark power blasts which would pwn all life on Starcraft.

They would still have that Archon-specific weakness. :)

It's probably not possible for archons/d-archons or for HT/DT to merge, their powers are the exact opposite. If they wanna use their powers together they need the Uraj and Khalis :D

Hmm, using the Uraj and the Khalis looks like an interesting campaign gimmick to create a special Archon

Warcraft pushing it's way into StarCraft?

Dont get me wrong I fully understand Warcraft and StarCraft are two totally different games, then why say Warcraft's pushing itself in? Well whether you admit it or not Starcraft2 and the WarCraft series are starting to look awfully similar. I'm not saying I dislike how warcraft looks, its just that one of the things that truly captured me about StarCraft was its originality, and im starting to see too much of the cartoonie look in WarCraft sneaking in. All thats left now is to prove my statement right? Well... here it goes. For anyone whos plays WarCraft its a unmissable trait the way units look and act in there little up close pic/vid thingy in the in-game tool bar. Well, in StarCraft2, the demo vid that was shown protrays the units pic/video personality's just like the ones in WarCraft. Buildings in StarCraft2 look cartoonie just like the ones in WarCraft. The worst similatity ive seen so far was in the demo vid when the Reapers come to counter the Immortals. The small vid shown in the side of the screen when the Reapers announce there attack "slaughter em boys!'' LOOKED REALLY CARTOONIE. I could go on about the similaritys in the two games but its something you really have to decide for yourself. Personally I say its time WarCraft layed low for awile.

well for starters it is the warcraft development team that is making starcraft2 so you would expect to see some artistic similarities. The ingame portrait was in sc1... As for the ingame cinematics, what do you expect it to look like, multi million dollar movies that use cgi still look fake so im not sure what you want lol.
When i see the units in the gameplay video the first thing I think of is how similar they look to the original, the zealot for example is pretty much exactly what i would of imagined it to be in 3d. As for the buildings, the ones that are NEARLY finished (ie stargate, gateway) look fine to me, im not going to comment on the terran buildings that look only 40% done.

I hate to be the one to break it to you Red, but the original StarCraft had "cartoonie" graphics as well. The StarCraft II graphics are what the StarCraft I graphics would have looked like if the game was in 3D. Of course, you ight argue that the small amount of space they had to fit unit sprites into forced them to exaggerate proportions, use lots of color and contrast, and you'd be right, but exaggeration, color, and contrast are used for more than appealing to children and making small images. They are good for giving the game a "timeless" feel ("real" today will be garbage next year, but Mickey Mouse never looks antiquated). They allow the developers to use simpler textures, lowering the minimum system specs., and increasing the number of people capable of playing the game. They are also useful for making things visually distinct, easily recognizable at a glance, from great distances- stuff you need to be able to do if you are going to be making split-second decisions based on what you see.

If the graphics were "realistic" you would not be able to tell Terran infantry units apart without squinting, the game would require a supercomputer to play, and in a few months, people will begin talking about how bad the graphics are compared to the next new game. Blizzard chooses its style for a reason. They want to serve their players, from release into the far future. Not all developers have the insight or willpower to do this for their players.

StarCraft 1 still looks "darker" than StarCraft 2. This is the thing that I really liked about StarCraft 1.

True, the thing that they must not change in Sc2 are the terrain shades, the seemed too bright in the 2nd leeked video, but alright in the first.

The "cartoonish" look, it's Blizzard's fingerprint, we can see this artwork style in all of their games, and it gives them a particular flavour imo, that's why their games are loved so much by millions of people, it's a bit of an ironic touch , if you would like to say so :), but they don't overdo it, so there's nothing to complain about.

The warcraft series was always more cartoony than starcraft was. StarCraft was dark as I said before. It's amazing that they can make it look dark and awesome with only 256 color but not 32 bit.

I love the cartooney look blizz gives its games. But if they get too bright it can be a nuisance.

I don't really think SC2 looks all the cartoonish. Some of the terran buildings and units look like toys as an earlier thread talked about, but i'm sure a lot of that will change. I'm really diggin' the terrain we have seen so far too. I highly doubt SC2 will have any sort of feel like WC3

oh yeah the terrain does look nice. StarCraft-esque but also more detailed.
