That's true, although I pretty much hate WC3 and can't make maps of my own, the editor is much more powerful and easy to use than SC's. It's not really fair to judge between those two games, I mean, they were about five years apart, or more.

DotA isn't just a map...it really is a game in and of itself.

DotA is a way of life.

DotA is my first. DotA is my last. DotA is my everything.

    I can't stand playing DoTA.

Anyways Warcraft 3 has it's perks against Starcraft but I can't play it as long as my sweet sweet Terran shooting Zerg infested Protoss planet cracked Starcraft.
But the editor is amazingly powerful, you can change almost anything down to the size of a unit's shadow.
Warcraft 2 was where it's at.

Well, I learned how to use the Warcraft 3 campaign editor from using the StarCraft campaign editor. I like the StarCraft campaign editor because of the simplicity, but I also like the Warcraft 3 map editor because of how much you can alter and change your maps, meaning you can put more detail in it. Unfortunately for me, my router does not let me host games on Battle.net because I secure it with WEP, but that's another matter, and changing the subject unnecessarily. Overall, get the Warcraft 3 Battle Chest, it is something good to have, and it's cheap right now, ($19.99). You'll get Warcraft 3: Reign of Chaos, the Reign of Chaos strategy booklet, Warcraft 3: The Frozen Throne expansion, the Frozen Throne strategy booklet, instruction booklet, and a disc for 14 days free of World of Warcraft. It's a good deal.

It's easier because of hotkeybindings and autocast, but at the same time it's more important to cast them correctly. The micro in wc3 is in no way easier than that of SC, it's just different.

And yes, wc3 is a very very good game, in ever aspect. Both ladder and ums.

It's very fun, especially the Muli-player maps. I loved Night of the Living Dead... most fun I've ever had between SC and WC.

The good qualities in warcraft 3 can be summed up in 4 reasons.

    Heroes
    Custom Maps
    Campaign
    4 Unique Races

An aspect I enjoy very much in WC3 that i havent seen in other games are the heroes. It takes the general RTS experience and modifies it in a way that is diffrent, but not overall imbalancing the game. The many diffrent heroes, (4 for each race, plus about 6 or so extra in the tavern for a total around 2 dozen) have unique abilities that overlap some, but if used correctly can pretty much dominate the battle. Its a mix of RTS and RPG in that element, where they have mana, use items, and cast spells. Some say that you can totally decimate armies with just a few heroes, and to an extent they are right. If you level up your heroes to the max (lvl 10) give them good items, and use them well, they can destroy most any opposition you can meet. Maybe its good, maybe its bad, but in my books i am impartial to these things.

Secondly, custom maps are simply excellent. I have spent hours upon hours playing DOTA, tower defences, anime arenas, and pretty much anything you can come up with and design with the warcraft engine. Some of them have been crazy good, some have been horrible, but overall a worthwhile experience if you ever want to take a break from the RTS madness.

Then there is the campaign. Quite lengthy as starcraft, but more so. Each race has around 10 missions, and you can tell blizzard has really put its heart into it. I was a bit lost in some places due to the fact i hadnt of played the first two, but with the expansion, it makes an excellent tale rivaling starcraft's own. All in all you will probably play around 60-70 missions if i remember correctly.

And lastly the races have been incredibly improved from WC2 days. The orcs are still the heavy cost, but excellent melee (think of them as protoss in costliness) The humans are generally easier to play and have a good middle ground like terran. The undead have to build on blight (like the creep) have a general playing style of zerg since they can raise the dead units into skeletons (honestly i have had hundreds on the map at once) and build like the protoss. Lastly, the Night Elves are good with ranged, magic, and have a good bit of cost to them. their key structures can uproot and move around like the Terran liftoff ability.

So, in the end if you have played starcraft, you can definitely see remnants in game mechanics and such, but in a fantasy setting. Overall I like them both equally and think they should deserve equal praise.

customs are fun real thing was ok.. i like the rpgs..rzo and defiance mainly
besides wc3s world edit owns starcrafts u gota admit and u can customize max food or play no food at all

starcraft is good because u get away from cooldowns upkeep and less things to worry bout including laggers

but i can host on wc3 which is probaly why i still play it. if you cant then it takes some of the fun from your favourite customs.(which is all i play pretty much)

isnt customs the only thing keeping wc3 going after all these years with the world editor.

nah people still play ladder mode on ROC. I almost have my 500 red drake icon ^_^ basically all i play is dota 3.7 and ladder. other popular games are sheep tag, elite snipers, and helms deep. most games tend to be rigged or unbalanced.

I've never played tFT, so all I knew was 90 in RoC.

I never played the multiplayer that much, except for DotA, but the campaigns were a lot of fun and had a great story

You gotta play tFT Fenix, because Arthas is always such woman in RoC, that it's good to see him tormented and evil in tFT

I mean honestly, even for the Warcraft universe, that hair of his was horrible
