Any ideas on what unit? I wouldnt be crazy to give reapers the ability to lay down claymores or bouncing betty's.

Raynor has been a hero in other units before (ie hyperion) so its possible he'll just use whatever replaces the vulture or some other unit.

I dunno, mines really fit Terran strategy. They are wonderful defensive devices but are also amazing at containment. Actually, I can't see Terran without some sort of mine laying capability. It just fits their style so well.

O.O i loved mines T_T i mean you could literally charge their base and leave i few mines here and there and then when they least expect it, unally them when they have a group or units over your mines and BAM lol

Too many Terrans Pros use vultures, I doubt Blizzard feel like pissing off Korea, but that's my opinion.

that matters so much less than the fact that the reaper does take the same role the vulture had.

What role are they replacing? Mines were so great early game, they could 2 shot zealots/dragoons

raiding. Reapers raid. Vultures were raiding units. Get in, attack, get out, limit casualties so that the benefit outweighs the cost.

If Vultures are really going to get axed, I don't expect Blizzard to axe the mines.
Probably one of the new unit is going to get to lay mines.

Something like the mine layer unit in Red Alert?

I honestly wouldn't put it past them to do that due to the fact that that command and conquer guy is there

    How about lazy dogs
Similar weapons were 'Lazy Dogs' (or 'Devil Dogs'), used by the US in the Korean and Vietnam Wars. These 1 3/4" diameter (4.5 cm) bomblets were air-dropped at height in canisters by aircraft or scattered from buckets by helicopter crews, reaching high sub-sonic speeds as they fell. Targeted at enemy personnel and unarmored vehicles, the flechette hit the targets with the force of a bullet.
Except they would drop them from higher up so they would reach higher speeds
