Because you need sound while playing in-game, like the notifying sound while using Terran when something is going on. So what if the actors don't really sound the same, they still sound the same to me. It's been 11 years since much of the voice acting for the original StarCraft had been done, so there's no real need to bash the actors, or Blizzard for that matter.

I dont think it have to be special "voice actors". I mean, as long as it sounds good, its fine by me.

Nah, but it seems like most of the original voice actors are returning, so I'm not complaining about anything, unless they make Jim Raynor's voice actor Bob Saget, then you would see me complaining.

plenty of things can happen to your voice after 10 years. Dont blame Raynor. Blame time ;)

TBH. I found that the Raynor from sc1 had a snake plissken sort of voice and tone, now he's just ridiculously southern. it's alright, but plissken sounding is about 10x more bad ass.

I don't know.. I thought jim was supposed to be a little more chubby and bald. From what I seen, he doesn't look anything like the sc1 Jim.

He looks exactly like the SC1 Jim. Look up some of the concept art of Jim Raynor from SC 1. If anything he;s a little more beefed up as SC1 jim was sorta gangly. You can't base what he should look like off those sc1 avatars. Those sucked nut.

Will Bill Roper come back to make the Goliath's voice ?

Oh ! I forgot that the Goliath will not come back !

Anyway I noticed something weird with the French version, about the voices : every character had some voices in Starcraft, but other voices in Brood War. Because other people made them. The French version is distributed by Ubi Soft. And Brood War not. That's why they have different voices.

    The better ones :
    - James Raynor got a more grave voice in Brood War, closer to the English voice. He had a normal voice in Starcraft.
    - Zeratul had a voice of an old man in Starcraft, but a better one in Brood War.
    - Kerrigan is the only character that the voice has not been modified.
    - Mengsk's one ? A different one toward SC, but a better one.

    The worst ones :
    - Aldaris has a younger voice. In SC he had a voice of an old man.
    - I heard Raszagal's original voice in English, but the French one sucks !
    - Same thing for Dugalle's one : he has a voice of an old man in the English version, but a voice of a 30 years old man in the French one.
    - Gen. Duke ? pfff ! He got a voice of a fool in Brood War. The same voice than the marine in Brood War.
    - The marine got a worse voice in Brood War.
    - the firebat : I like his voice in SC. But the French one sounds like gay ! ;D

Bill... Roper...? Dude. Goliath was Michael Dorn. Dude who played Worf in Star Trek.

*edit* It's incredibly sad that I know that.

You know...actually looking at Jimmy's avatar in SC1; it looks more like he has a closely shaved head. Follow the facial hair up. What looked like poorly rendered shadows sorta resembles peach fuzz.

I think it sucks that the guy who voiced Duke is dead. Then again did Duke live through BW anyways? I'm replaying the campaigns to touch back up on the storyline and I really can't recall ATM.

EDIT: BTW yes, peoples voices do change as they get older. Like in the Japanese version of Dragon Ball Z; Piccolo and Vegeta have deeper grittier voices as the series moved along. Yes, I admit it. I used to watch a lot of DBZ, yes enough to know these sort of things about the Japanese version. No, I don't watch it now....although it would do Adult Swim a world of good to replace Inuyasha with DBZ IMO.
