The news item is short because it was edited down because of complaints like his. The original post had most of the entire article, which was very long, thick, boring, and mostly irrelevant to our concerns.

i just hope that this doesnt do anythign to blizzard, i doubt it, and they say it will not, but i still dont feel 100% sure... anywas, hopefully blizzard ( no i will not call them by that other name) will prosper by this deal!

I see two RTS under there belt, both of which I have never heard of.
Even under all there titles most of them are sports games. SPORTS! This just seems like a bad move overall. Unless Blizzard plans to make some type of Warcraft/Sport hybrid game... *Cries*

As long as the new company doesn't invade Blizzard with new employees and CEOs then all will be good.
Really, this doesn't even affect Blizzard. The name is deceiving. It is really a merger between Activision and Vivendi. The new company should be called Activision Vivendi. However, Blizzard is so much more well known that they are using it instead.

So, to sum things up. When you pop SCII into your CD drive, a blizzard logo will show up as always. However, after that you will see a Activison Blizzard logo next instead of a Vivendi logo. If anything, Blizzard will only get more money to make the game with....

The only name that rings the bell for me is "barbie". They have lots of tycoons that I have never heard of and the rest are mostly sports games

zenithar666 ... You have a good point I say that games posted on Blizz web site Will be from bliz, and the once posted on activision will be from activision. Thee will be no sense for the "company" to post each product 2 times (I hope)

i dont like the sound of this, mainstream companies tend to spew crap en masse , and blizzard had always had that underground sense of development. quality over quanity . always.

Ok guy, let me state it again, with perhaps a bit more clarity.

Blizzard is currently part of Vivendi's game division, Vivendi Games. Activision is currently one of the largest game publishers. Vivendi has agreed with Activision to merge its game division with Activision.

Activision is the one that is currently tradable on a US stock exchange, the NASDAQ. So Vivendi Games will merge into Activision and become tradable. The new merged company will be called Activision Blizzard. The only reason you see "Blizzard" is that it is a more recognized name. Vivendi is just using the name of one of the companies it owns, not the actual company itself.

On game boxes, there are, among others, two logos. One is for the publisher, one is for the developer. A game published by Activision Blizzard will have an Activision Blizzard logo and a developer's logo. On a Blizzard game, you will see the Activsion Blizzard logo AND the Blizzard logo. This event will do nothing to Blizzard's developer logo.

The leadership will be 55% Vivendi Games people, 45% Activision people. The new company will rival EA in market power, meaning EA is going to have to stop producing garbage. Activision Blizzard will get more pushing power with retailers, meaning all developers under them get more money to develop with. There will be no internal changes within either company's studios.

Guys, this is not a bad thing.

I would prefer Vivendi Activision myself since Blizzard is just a subsidary of Vivendi.

I hope the Activision execs and investoers don't screw with Blizzard or anyone else under Vivendi. I would hate for vivendi to stop being a quality company

I agree with you, I doesnt see any bad coming out of this.
Blizzard will still remain the same and will still producing great quality games.

that was exactly my thoughts, at last EA is getting some competition, we have seen them buy anything as long as to make their crap factory bigger, now, lets hope they star making serious games and stop trying to only get our money,

One burning question I have is "What happens to Sierra" They are technicly a publisher so what heppens to them when Activision becomes the publisher for Vivendi made games?

This won't change anything, it's another company who will be adding Blizzard to their name. Even if the name is lame, it won't be lame for Blizzard, it will be lame for Activision's Division (that division will make more money, because people will think they are paying for Blizzard's shares, when it will not actually be the same people).

Our Blizzard will stay untouched, nothing will change since it does no affect Blizzard. And like other people said, the worst that can happen is that Blizzard will have more funds (which is not a bad thing at all) thought I highly doubt it since companies tends to be as greedy as the people working for them.

Aren't we all?

I laughed when I read the other games Vivendi owns rights to, they're so lucky to have Blizzard.

Not sure why this would change alot anyway. If you look at most mergers and even title buying you don't see many games being pushed under the rug. And SC2 is one of the most anticipated games in the past decade lol, I mean hell SC1 is in the top5 for best selling games. If they cut SC2 they would be digging their own graves, no one would take Blizzard and their publishers serious again. So again, this doesn't even affect us really, it just means SC2 might get even more funding/people working on it/cooler.
