Misspelt my name. It's ItzaHexGor. No "e" at the end.
It would be to similar to Star-Wars. In your original post you posted a picture of a vehicle from Star-Wars!

Blizzard builds unit concepts off of other sci-fi creations all the time - this is a good idea to pull inspiration from.

The Colossus is obviously stolen straight from War of the Worlds, the Zerg as a whole are a combination of the Alien movies and the bugs in Starship Troopers. The Zealots and Dark Templar very obviously have Predator movie themes built into them. The Terran Marines also are influenced by Starship Troopers. The Goliath design wasn't exactly original either... how many futuristic mechs have we seen like that? Too many to count. The Mothership comes from a long line of flying saucer sci-fi concepts.

The basic idea of a large tank/mech which I guess combines heavy firepower with transport capability might be useful...

The best idea I can come up with Overling is using it as a combination heavy support and mobile factory unit. This unit would have heavy lasers in the head section, and the large rear compartment would allow smaller Factory units to be built directly on the battlefield instead of being used for troop transport - because the Terrans already have superior transport mechanisms in place. Mobile factory might be useful ehh? And with it able to fire at both air & ground, it wouldn't overlap the Siege Tank or Thor in its attack role. Another possibility is to give it limited range only against ground units, and no limit versus air units... so it'd be better at air support - and further differentiate it.

Wow, thanks Nate, this really brings this possibility up again.

A mobile factory could compensate the loss of Starbase, that used to function in this exact manner. It would be another type of Space-fortress/Starbase/unit combo, that is none of these. This idea is your idea, because I wouldn't consider it being a factory myself alone, lol. And it would kind of have a good point in being built by SCVs, since it would be sort of a building too. Great Terran-ish strategy.

@ ItzaHexGor: sorry bout misspelling your name =/

A mobile Factory? Terran already have a mobile Factory. It's called a Factory! All the Terran's unit producing buildings can already be made mobile with Lift-Off.
And yeah, you're right Nate, Blizzard does copy and get unit ideas from other science fiction shows/games. So why do they need another one? The Thor is actually pretty original. Sure, we've seen big powerful mechs before, but they aren't like the Thor. So why would you want to replace a unit that is relatively original, with a unit that is blatantly taken straight out of Star-Wars?
