    In response to i2new:

If you don't play as Zerg, then they obviously wont be useful to you. Work with me here.

Like I said, and like Neon has just proved, Devourours are plenty useful, when used properly, as a support unit. If you have the resources to make, lets say four of them, and each fires two shots, which is a fair number, not too out there, then the Mutalisks will begin dealing HUGE damage. maybe you haven't seen this, but for those that have, it isn't pretty.

Even if you disregard the way it attacks a units defence, the way it tear up the firing rate should be reason enough to fear. A BC has one hell of a long cooldown. With 9 acid spores, I think it doubles that cooldown. I don't care how strong your BC is, if the thing can't attack, how much good is it too you?

Plus, for every BC you have, you can get 3 Mutas, plus an extra 100 minerals. Let's see... 10 extra slow firing, negatively armored BCs vs 30 Mutalisks. You guess the winner.

I get the use of the devourer i'm just saying i dont put my self in a situation for the enemey to have to make them. I dont let the enemy advance in air nor would i relie in big air to win a match. I'm a harassment toe to toe on the edge kinda guy where every single second counts. I dont like lugging arounf massive big targets to be shot down. I have been known to over do it with corsiars with protoss(favored race of choice) but thats only because there effective with web and light air control. I guess alot of zerg players notice that when battling me and dont even bother to build mutas there for the other air units are out of the question. As i was saying befor controlling the match is key to a victory. Skills decide this. Units are tools are you trained well enough to use them correctly?

and Neon i know u never said I never said I had a strong feeling it would return to SC2. But i have noticed units that didnt make it into SC2 people tend to think the unit didnt make it because it was not good enough. Weather thats the case here or not the fact that it will most likly not be in SC2 is not helping its already low reputation.

    Feedback-
Casters can be an annoyance, at best. tired of Queens always taking out your High Templars? Just cast feedback. One hit kill.

    Maelstrom-
Try it on a bunch of Mutas, then follow it with a Psi Storm. You'll like the results.

    Mind Control-
Make two Dark Archons, then just MC expensive units. It really gets annoying. Better yet, if you know your opponent is massing something big and expensive, like BCs, make a bunch of Dark Archons, and MC as many as you can. Even if you don't get to keep any, you certainly take the bite out of his 12 BC attack when you MC 5, kill 4, and leave 3 of them with 100 HP.

I use Dark Archons when fighting zerg and protoss. Killing a high telmplar or freezing zerg is useful. People think because a Dark Archon only has 1 or 2 shots with maelstorm dont relize what its really for. Maelstorm is suppost to be used with dt's zealots and archons(Mainly Archons who arnt affected by maelstorm) so they dont get massacared when walking up to other units. I did this in a match fighting my brother and leveld his army a few times.

Heres a replay of me and my brother going at it when World Of Warcraft was down. I used Dark Archons and won because of them so Look and learn kidys. Were both rusty as hell so if we suck dont worrie about it and i was playing WC3 which is not really the same but close enough. :)

1 more thing about the lings over hydras, if u send out an army of lings, all it would take are a few ranged attackers or air to destroy them, but when sending in an army of hydras, you would basically pwn everything in sight =) ZERG FTW!

zerglings Upgraded can wipe a base in seconds... zerglings dont requier gas there easly massable and if used correctly they can become the most annoying unit of all time....

A few bunkers at a choke point, anlong with a squad of tanks fireing behind it will wipe out most, and if you have SCVs repairing the bunkers, then you're pretty well equiped to handle the Zergling threat.

I think a good player seeing terrans defend up like that wouldnt bother to make zerglings to much.

Or, a good Terran noticing Zerglings by the hundred would defend. It could go either way.

    These units suck:
    terran:
    Valkyrie

    protoss:
    Scout, Archon, Dark Archon, Scout

    Zerg:
    Ultralisk
    Queen
    Devourer
    infested Terran
    Scourge
everything that isnt a zergling hydra or mutalisk. (or guardian or lurker or defiler)

scout is listed twice cause it sucks twice as hard.
zerg have maybe 5 good units if im generous, but naming every unit as suck means the ones called by name sucked twice as hard.
    Dishonorable mentions:
Siege tank, for being completely worthless w/o siege mode.
    Shuttle
Bunker(not a unit but still crap)

ok, now to defend: valkyries just suck. they are too slow at attacking, moving, and penetrating armor, surviving , and in general a waste of supply. everything is just plain better.
    Scouts are really really bad.
archons are a waste of templar. the short ranged makes the archon the retard of the protoss when it comes to doing anything you tell it to, and two zealots make a much better tank, with armor and faster movement.
dark archons suck, if you can afford to get them to mind control, you can afford to beat your opponent 15 minutes ago.

now the zerg. ultralisk is less cost effective, and big as hell (Xbox hueg). zerglings deal way better damage, and can actually soak up more damage in terms of cost if you get the armor upgrades. even in a bunker+siege tank breaking situation on a money map zerglings are better than ultras. in every way. (unless they have mass firebats or something stupid)
scourge are only useful against carriers, but they arent, unless some one is attacking you with three or less carriers at a time and no corsair.
Queen, Devourer, and infested Terran have been covered well enough, excpet that some people think theorycraft makes the devourers splash attack worth it. it doesnt. devourers fire one shot before they die if they are lucky enough not to be yamatoed on sight for being so stupid.

empirical evidence shows that all my data is correct. maybe.

When people say Units that Sucked, its a matter of Opinion, and how you use it. So should we describe why units sucked if we post one?

If you don't describe it, justify it, there's nothing to talk about, and therefore no discussion.

It would be like, "Hi, I'm Neon. I don't like Zerglings and SCVs." "Hi, I'm Rex, I think Arbiters suck."
"Hi, I'm..." Not very interesting, you see?

    Units I don't like

    terran:
Firebat-because of its limited range, this unit's only advantage is against zerglings. It won't do much to the protoss because of the toss's tendancy to range and aireal units. Costwise, marines are much better for base defence and attack squadrons.
Valkyrie-this units has limited effectiveness in most battles and can easily be a waste of minerals. A wraith is better for aireal attacks and air support because of its cloaking ability and since it can hit ground targets. The Valkyrie just isn't a decent support units unless the enemy only has non-upgraded air units.

    protoss:
Dark Archon-Costwise, it's not worth making. Just to make one unit, you spend 100 min and 300 gas, and for a unit with no attack. Also, you sacrifice units that have permanent cloaking for a unit that can't cloak without an arbiter.

    zerg:
Devourer-It has too slow of an attack speed. Most air units can stand these fairly easily unless they are in large numbers.
Ultralisk-too hard to move around with them. They easily get stuck behind buildings and friendly units. Also, they are easily prey for ranged armies and any AG air units. With an attack of only 20, these expensive units can't kill anything with a single hit, making them likely to get damaged in any battle.

But on a cost basis, the Zerg player is winning by far. The share cost for terrans defending against massive zergling swarms is very high.

Acctually, That's the cost for a regular Archon. Dark Archons cost 250/200. Still pricey, but if you have two near dead Dark Templars, they're decent.

True, I never said I would let the opponent get 400 Zerglings :p But if worse comes to worse, it is stopable with those types of tactics.

    oops, my bad.

However, you still need to spend the extra resourses to upgrade thier abilities, which can add up if you are backed into a corner. Plus, two dark templars can cause more destruction than one DA, which has malestorm as its only damaging move. Mind control is good, but mostly its effective against transports and converting workers.

I agree with you, they aren't that great. But hey, if you have two near dead DT, you might as well convert them. MCing expensive units like BCs is fun. Even if they die right on the spot, those things arent cheap.
