    Roachlisk? lol

My big problem is since most of the are "verb"er, its hard to shorten them without it sounding weird, also, I guess some shortened ones in SC1 were weird at first too

    but seriously
    Marine - Rine
    Dragoon - Goon

    Reaper - Reap? Aper?
    Stalker - Stalk? Lker?

I just dont know :( lol,

Roach speaks for itself, I don't understand the problem behind a name that perfectly describes the unit's purpose..

If it isn't -ling, its -lisk, and -er, Drone, Overlord, Overseer, Scourge, Roach, Larva, Queen... really now it DOESN'T fit?

Though, I would like a unit named Scyllisk, an evolution of Hydralisk perhaps (if you know Greek mythology)

But it's huge! I can't imagine some Terran solider shouting the same thing about the Ultralisk. I mean, yeah, it's tough to kill, but anything that size is. In fact, assuming the Hydralisk had already acquired its own name, I can honestly imagine someone shouting...

"Holy ****! It's like a ****ing... ultra... lisk!"

...As using I don't think they'd've thought of shouting ultraling, so chucked on the other suffix instead.

    hmm... Liveling? Regenelisk? :p j/k

I can see how the name would come up, it just doesn't do for me compared to the other names.

  5. I'm sure you'll warm up to it. Say it a few times then picture the unit and you should already start to feel a little differently.

Ovvie, regardless of whether you like it or not. It is a really solid name for it, and you are probably one of like ten people that don't like it. So don't expect it to change.

    Cockling is funnier.

Roach has grown onto me somewhat already, and we're still in the alpha... A year after the release all of y'all rather have your necks snapped than have it changed. What I don't like though is the Roach (Ultralisk too) model. I am really excited about the new model though - yes there will be one - because this is Blizzards chance to further improve and distinguish it.

Why there will be a new model? Blizzard mentioned in a blizzcast that some models will have to be redone because of their attacks changing. We've seen this on the Thor (it only affected the shoulder cannons though) already. The Roach has been spitting green acid (SC1 Hydra attack animation lives on :p ) for a long time and they'll atleast have to remove the axes.

Yeah, I don't mind the current Roach model, but it could definitely do with some refining. The axes are fairly distinctive, though, so they might have a hard time editing it out. If they kept the rest roughly the same, it'd look a bit bland just with a spiky armour plate.

I really don't like the Ultralisk model either. Not only does it look extremely inorganic, but it's wasting a good old, distinctive, insectoid design. That, and it animates poorly. There's no excuse for having its scythes cross over when it roars. That's simply poor form.

And a model that I did like that was changed, apparently, was the Lurker. It actually looked like some horrid underground-dwelling creature that hasn't ever seen light for part eons, and has evolved accordingly. The one problem was with the eyes, and possibly also that it looked a bit top heavy, not that it mattered because it freaking lives underground!

i hate how blizzard makes names that just sound cool and actually have nothing to do with the unit. example - wraith, valkyrie, banshee. mostly terran stuff. most the stuff is good, but its really cheesy if you think about it.

  12. Wraith and Valkyrie make perfect sense to me. Banshee makes a little less since but that means nothing. It still makes a lot of sense.

awhile back on the b.net forums someone asked why they didnt get the new lurker model that Karune said they going to work on, and Karune answer was that the plan changed and all they did was added a little more details on the current model.

currently, the only model changes i have heard was the Infester's model, Blizz said that they are going to rework it to make it feel more zerg-y-ish and infest-y-ish. tho i think they are also planning on improving the Interceptors model as well.

Or give it a fork and a tooth pick and call it the swiss army dropship.

Good i really hate the infestor look, make it look less like a turd with a head.

Infestor is the name I don't really like, it's just too literal. I love Defiler so much more because of the broader range of actions you can associate with it - to make fithy, to desecrate, to taint...it sounds so much more menacing, whereas to infest is just to overrun in large, annoying quantities. oh noes, termites!

Roach...it does get the gist of the unit across, but it still seems a bit uninspired. Something like 'gnasher' would be kind of nice; to gnash bite with grinding teeth, which goes against the roach's current ranged attack, but the visual imagery of stuff being torn to bits when hearing the word makes you think the unit would be pretty damn mean.

Protoss and Terran names are good, ignoring some of the seemingly random name changes (warp ray to void ray, phase prism to warp prism, and Jackal to Hellion)

  18. Does the Infestor still infest? Last time I heard, they removed that ability.

Really? The last I'd heard Samwise had gotten pretty defensive about the Infestor's model, so it was unlikely to be changed.

  20. I think several units were said to be in for a redo but the Infestor was not mentioned but kind of assumed and still they ended up doing nothing.
