Yeah. There a law against that?

Anyways. Baneling? Well, it's the bane of any unit it comes into contact with? Then again, you cannot technically expect a good explanation for Zerg names in general. Zergling because it's a small zerg? "Ultra"lisk because it's so huge?, Queen because it can create it's own sort of Brood? not many explanations for Zerg.

I think it's baneling because bang + (zerg)ling = bangling ( too obvious and not creative) so they changed it to baneling. Does this make sense?

No, not in the slightest :D Bane is actually a word meaning something like fury, decay.

The only use of the word bane I have ever seen is to mean the thing that killed something. For example, air units are the bane of siege tanks. So the name banelings would mean little things that kill things. I think it is a very descriptive name for the little devils. Just like Scourge is a very good name for the scourge of capital ships.

Hmm... well, you got me there. But I have another one for ya.

Try to explain to me why ... Why... why there's no unit named chuck norris?

And no, stupidity doesn't count. It's just some random excuse a guy invented and people caught up to it :p

Because Gory, if you named a unit Chuck Norris, the game would be unbalanced. Despite being a melee unit it would still be too deadly with the highest hp in the game (9999) highest armor (255) and it's attack speed would be lightning fast. Not to mention if the unit cried it would heal all units instantly and after roundhouse kicking its way into your base it'd say "Mission Accomplished." That just wouldn't make the game fun.

but what if chuck norris was a bonus unit on a random mission? :p

And besides, who needs 9999 hp when you can just be invincible :D

if it's static it can't have absolute motion and relative motion being the same.

its not a static orb. its a stasis orb. And it's called such because it affects others movements through its abilities.

thats something in stasis, not something that creates stasis. something that doesnt move in 1 word would be static, but it affects others' movement, therefore being named stasis orb.

    Just like a stasis field.

Quit complaining about the names... it practically has nothing to do with the game itself.

"What's in a name? That which we call a rose
By any other name would smell as sweet;"

Now, personally, I like the names. They all seem to make sense to me.
Reaper: Great name. As in to cut or harvest, maybe even a reference to the Grim Reaper
Cobra: Again a very good name. Suits it's role, to make sudden strike attacks, after all, they can shoot on the move.
Thor: Great name. Again suits the role sure and true. And obviously named after the Norse God.
Viking: Great name. Links in with the Thor's name as well as suiting the role, Vikings are able to quickly fly in, land, do a quick raid and fly out.
Banshee: Still a small link with Thor and Viking, because Banshees are part of Northern European mythology. Also a popular name for aircraft, and the name suits it, because it can cloak.
Immortal: Good name. Suits unit because they are the only surviving Dragoons, and have been equipped with near indestructible shields
Colossus: Great name. Definitely appropriate due to it's immense stature.
Stalker: Great name. Also very appropriately named, due to it's link with Dark Templar as well as it's ability to Blink.
Soul Hunter: I agree... Horrid name, and horrid unit. Good thing they abandoned it.
Phase Prism: Great name. Just 'Prism' wouldn't work, because it wouldn't explain how it can phase in units.
Pheonix: Good name. Doesn't really have any kind of link though, apart from it flying. Maybe because it's able to 'burn' out it's weaponry?
Warp Ray: Great name, describes it perfectly. Does not refer to warp as in warping something in, as oppose to harnessing the power of the warp to fuel it's weapon.
Tempest: Average name. All the interceptors flying around do give the idea of a tempest or huge storm, but I've heard it's been removed so the Carrier can return.
Twilight Archon: Great name. It cannot just be called 'Archon' or Dark Archon' now, because 1 High and 1 Dark Templar can fuse to make a single Twilight Archon now. They had to get a new name that is ambiguous to being 'good' or 'evil'.
Mothership: Awesome name. But for this name to work best, it still needs to be a single, super-unit. Suits the whole of Protoss well.
Baneling: Great name. 'Bane' actually means to cause ruin or destruction, deriving from an Old English word that means 'death'.

All in all, I feel that a lot more effort has gone into choosing the names than most people think. People should stop complaining about all of the things that they just immediately don't like about SC2, stop, and think about it more. Blizzard employees won't just pick a name off the top of their head, and they are actually making this game for you guys, so cut them some slack and do something worthwhile instead of complaining.

K well, I like your little constructive post, but what'd be more constructive would be if you actually read the thread as opposed to regurgitating ideas and explanations.

I've explained the Warp Ray, Phoenix, Immortal, Cobra, Banshee, Baneling(though in this case, your's is better), Vulture, Reaper, Thor and others.

So again, Instead of posting something that everyone else has already said, read the thread first. The only thing in your entire post I see that's relative is "Stop complaining about the names."
