:D Its proberly a personal play stlyle thing. Theres a reason most player normaly settle on one race over the others, and it becuse that race suits there playstyle/mindset better.

For example, I can't play terrans to save my life, but I'm a nice high silver as zerg.

Ok, look everyone, I'm gonna tell you guys something: Zerg aint underpowered, terrans and protoss aint overpowered. The thing is:

Zerg require higher level of macro than the other 2 races. Most people who just started starcraft have weak macro so that is the only reason why they dont play well with zerg.

Terrans require a mix of micro and macro.

Protoss require alot of micro because they will have to force field, to micro the colossus, the high templar the immortal the stalker or whatever.

So in conclusion, zerg aint underpowered, protoss and terran aint overpowered. The thing is that people play better with terrans and protoss because Macro is the most important for zerg but newer ppl won't macro well enough so they will loose. People are better at micro than macro so thats why protoss aren't considered underpowered.

That is the only reason why people say zerg are underpowered. But they aint. Once again, all the races require the same amount of effort to work well. The thing is that it is not the same kind of effort.

I am starting to be quite anoyed of ppl complaining. So my message to zerg players is: practice your macro, macro like a crazy. I would even suggest you to focus 90% of the game on macroing. A good exersice would be to play a whole weak only custome games, and in these custome games, macro, who cares if you win or lose, you are working on your macro. When you will have better macro then you can focus on playing and winning.

Then you must be annoyed at Husky as well, since he hints all those stuff very mildly in his videos ;)

You have the right to be annoyed but, I just have to tell you...
People won't take your word about Terran not being OP, since your main race is Terran after all.

I lurk around battle.net forums and it seems they don't take Terran players seriously when it comes to this subject (yes, regarding diamond and plat players). Just giving you a heads up.

But as I said, I'm starting to think there is a SLIGHT disadvantage. Nothing huge to the point where the game is horribly IMBA. As many commentators said, the game is new and there will be a TON of balance patches. It took SC1 years to be at its state now.

Maybe send a chaneling into the wall and if its heavily fortified forget about going that way, take a balanced army of brood lords and corruptors to the mineral lines of the terran or protoss. the broodlords with their super omega range will kill any turrets or cannons without taking damage and corruptors and protect them from vikings and voids, then the terran or toss will have to move all their units from the gate to the back of his base. this is a pretty strong combo which i recomend using.

Ok so then how do you explain the difference in race distribution of the top 200 starcraft 2 players exactly?
If we assume perfect balance of races and a even distribution of pro's to each race. We would expect the top 200 to to be close to 33%toss 33%terran 33%zerg and 1%random. Of coarse this will never be exact but the difference should be more of less minimal maybe a deviation of 3-5% either way.

Yet out of the top 100 players on oct 4: only 17% were zerg with 28% protoss 3%random and 52%terran
out of the 200 on oct 4: only 23.5% zerg 31% toss 3%random and 42% terran

on sept 27 zerg made up 21% of the top hundred and 25% of the top 200(which I think is the highest its been)

on sept 20 zerg made up only 18% percent of the top 100 and 18.5% of the top 200

and on sept 13 zerg was 17% of the top 100 and 19 of the top 200

So what is going on here exactly, am I supposed to assume the pro's have bad macro skills?

Wait.. you keep saying they have all these units and stuff... Banelings are really meant for late game.. They are a tier 1.5 unit if I'm correct and are meant to be used early game to break down barriers before there is a lot of stuff in the way to stop it. If the Terran is turtling like a ***** then expand like a ***** and max your army with hydras while waiting for him to come out. Or be a douche like I am and buidl a hatch outside his base and spore/sunken his ramp entrance so he can't get out without either making transport units or hurting his army rather bad.

One thing to remember is a lot of people panic when they see wierd things. If you build outside his base and he sees it he's going to freak most likely and send his units out to kill it. That's when you run up with your army and hit him, or nydus him or run in...fly in... your mutas or something bro.

Every race is OP in the right hands. Simple fact...though void rays and marauders are OP as hell in my humble f*cking oppinion. >_>

    @ Gavagai,

Blizzard has insisted numerous times that less players overall choose Zerg. The vast majority of players play as Protoss, Terran coming in second. That's how the Top 200 gets skewed.

Well I'm fairly new. But maybe it has to do with the fact that new players all pick Terrain. Cause
they play the campain that way and have already learned that.

Zerg is the toughest for me to play. Everytime I get a big map, every zerg just mass muta's & builds lots of defense turrets at there bases. I attack one base and the muta's assists the turrets cause the muta's are the fastest unit on the field.
I don't like to rush, but I'm starting to think the only way I can beat zerg is to rush. If I let them set up a few bases, its mass muta time, & everywhere I attack the muta's are there in 5 sec, plus
they can attack air & ground.

i think that this is because in the campaign you learn to use the Terrans very well and get some missions as protoss but absolutely no missions as zerg. therefore players who have played the campaign will now a lot of terran, some thing of protoss and nothing of zerg

thats why there is more terran, then protoss and lastly zerg

about that the other two races are OP..... well i've played protoss lately and its much easier to play than zerg so therefore i think zerg is underpowered (i even think im a better protoss player than zerg) xD
but i dont play terran..... dirty terrans =.=

What others have already said, plus that Terrans could just have a more fun/appealing game style than Zerg, without necessarily being stronger.

that could be so.... but i still think zerg is really fun to play ^^
actually that statistic there doesn't really prove much about zerg being underpowered too me.... i dont have problems as zerg... usually ^^

Why are race choices compared and not win rates? Choices are up to tastes, game outcomes are up to skills and balance.

There not overpowered, your just not using them right :p

Serously I find the slow nature of the terrans and there general blindness of the battlefield is a big enough disadvatage to make up for there general slight edge in strieght up fighting.

I mean with zerg it so very easy to know whats going off on nearly every inch of the battlefield and the number of option for fast or sneaky attacks is unreal.

Yeah, zerg has the best scouting in the game, with their flying supply depots, maphax tumors, and changelings. Not to mention they can send out a single 25 mineral unit to scout, which also happens to be the fastest unit in the entire game.

    @ RushSecond,

Yeah right. Observers are by far the best scout ever made.

Each of the races have their own unique active and I guess what you would call "passive" scouting capabilities. Zerg, as it has already been mentioned, have some of the best passive/battlefield intel abilities with creep and burrowed units, and they have very fast/expansive scouting abilities using their OLs and speedlings. They don't have very good inner base scouting options though. Good opponents tend to shoot down changelings, which aren't exactly spammable, and zerglings aren't going to get very much intel behind the lines against good opponents either.

Terran have good scouting capabilities with scans, reapers, and sentry towers.

Protoss have the least scouting abilitiy in terms of numbers, but as has already been said they have the best scout in the game, which can provide intel both behind enemy lines and in front and often without being detected....and intel that your opponent doesn't know you have is far more valuable.

True, but it rare to see them on the battfield in large number or early.

Hi there. First of all know that I play as zerg too and I probably suck at playing as terran or protoss. But it has always been zerg for me from SC 1 to SC 2 and I have an average of 80% wins 1 on 1. But I also have noticed that it will be extremely hard to win if the match lasts long. In ZvZ it is all about counters, macro and micro so with some luck and all you can win. But in ZvP and ZvT you have to rush to win because zerg are no match for the advanced protoss and terran tech and units. So find strength in numbers. Overwhelm them with zerglings, banelings, roaches, hydras etc. Don't even go for mutalisks and ultralisks because they are not worth it. Use infestors for defense and support roles but do not have more than a few. When it comes to air use curruptors and broodlords but micro them properly. Also 1 or 2 baneling drops on your opponents mineral lines can help you alot. Know the streghts and waekness of each race and utilise them properly. Also even if you expand and outmacro your opponent, if you play defensievely or let the game last a long time then you will surely have hard time winning.

In my experence every unit has its use. I especialy disagree with the mutalisks comment. There nasty in small numbers and even nastier in big numbers.

I kinda agree and disagree with the infestor comments. There good in small numbers most of the time (4 - 6 seems the best), but I use them far more aggrecively, typicaly to attack the enermy from underground at his weak points . :wubclub:
