Blackskies: rumors aren't true until they're confirmed true. Nothing has been confirmed. It is possible that the beta will be released soon, but we do not know that for sure. Blizzard talking about using their beta means nothing to us. They were talking to other developers about the usefulness of beta testing in the grand scheme of making games.

Even the fact that SC2 will be playable in June is not enough to confirm anything. It was playable last August, too, when they demoed to the conventioners at BlizzCon. It doesn't tell us that they're anywhere near being ready to actually release anything. It just tells us that they're willing to show us what they are working on.

OMG!!!!! i guess the ultra is back and wow does it look cool i mean holy crap look at the blades (they kida look like crystals

 

Yup im loving the new Ultralisk.. its 2 new extra claws are really ftw, and its horned evil looking head really makes it look badass, gj blizz.
My only problem with it and most other units is team colour but meh.. im sure blizz will darken them eventually ^_^

But arn't these new designers for Sc2 the ones from Warcraft? If so they need to put Warcraft in a box for a while.

Edit: I was just looking at battle.net and some people think its a Protoss-Zerg hybrid xD

I hate the new Ultralisk, it looks like it came straight out of WoW.
Of course, I'm sure the model will look better by the time the game is released, but damn..

In other words, this is just the foundation model which they will work on. Since they are WoW designers of course the first model will look Warcrafty, they can't help it. But I'm sure it'll turn out for the best. But this new concept of the Ultra owns.

 

I gotta say I smell the Zerg section coming and I smell it coming soon. Still if they are trying multiple things with the Ultralisk that is cool to me. Means that they are seeing what fits it best. Blizzard never seems to fail in that catergory.

 

Zergalicious: The WoW people are still working on WoW. It's the WC3 (and SC) people that are doing the SC2 art. Anyway, it has that style not because they don't know how to do otherwise, but because Blizzard likes stylization.

Yes, I'll have to agree with 10-Neon on the art style. I have seen a lot of people "unhappy" with the new art style because it isn't like the first or "gritty" enough. Personally, I really like the new art style and graphics and people have to try and remember this is a new addition to the franchise and things are going to be different and we have better graphic quality now with the 3D models, shaders, and lighting so it's obviously gonna be brighter and more robust than a decade old graphics engine.

I think a lot of people are just too hung up on the fact that it should be so similar to Starcraft 1 to preserve it while that change could actually be a improvement and good change instead of the change "being less" or "taking away" from what we know and love about Starcraft.

this is the worst unit i have seen i've ever seen blizzard make...ever
I no its a concept design but it still looks someone had a cold from the future and threw this thing up
also why the hell is its head so big???
is it asking to get shot because its neck is too weak to support it, or have the zerg just forgotten they are to kill the enemy, not fall waddle about looking like a retard crab

I think another thing people don't realize is that the Ultralisk will be different regardless of art style for that fact that it will most likely be end game again and the end game of SC2 is vastly different than Sc1 atm in terms of versatility and unit usage. Most are expecting a Ultralisk with good armor and hp again. That may be the case, but Blizzard already stated that they were seeing how certain things worked with it and what didn't.

and i dno why the f**k did seradin made another thread about the ultralisk, its completely pointless...it seems that the other ultralisk thread, "haters" would post there and say "i dont like the new ultra"..which is..yeah...i say merge them.
