Ultralisk Concept Art at GDC `08!

Those claws are huge! I'd love to see a marine get pwned by an ultra now.

AMAZING!!!! I absolutely love it.

Now if they could walk over lings like how the collosii can walk over zealots and other units... It would be amazing... no more running around trying to get a shot at the bunker while the lings are in the way.

 

Hmm... To be honest, i'm not a huge fan of this. I mean, it looks cool and all but the yellow/gold color seems really wacky and the cracked skin plates are also pretty odd... I guess It's pretty cool to see some new zerg units, though.
It just doesn't seem like starcraft to me, and seems like it's from another game.

I think the yellow/gold color's their bone/exoskeleton color and they made it yellow to look more... bony. And those plates aren't skin, they're bone. ^_^


I want to see an ultralisk jump.

IS it just me, or is the big crown, head appendage thingy a bit overdone? Other than that...not too shabby, doubt it will be the final model though.

 

Only thing I dislike about it is the plates on its head, including the pattern on it, also the colour doesn't seem very good... much to bright and shiny. I love the new form and shape of the Ultralisk although the main claws could be a little bit smaller.
Form and shape is total win but the colours fail IMO. And that new Zergling model looks fucking AHHHH I love it.

I noticed that too, I hate when things are extremely bulky and are not aesthetically correct. Notice thats a new Zergling model, I love that.

On the Ultralisk tho, lose that bright coloration and patterns on its plates.
Less yellow plz.
Lessen the head plates/crest.
Make it's main claws sleeker.

Having a claw that bulky is stupid cuz naturally it would just smash instead of slice, and if it smashed things, a blunt form would be better. But we know the Ultralisk does both with it's main claw so make it sleeker.
Blizzard designers should realize bulky isn't great.

Oh yea and lose the rhino horn lol

But on a whole I'm happy with its initial form and again that Zergling is sexy. Angle or not the model looks nice like that.

 

I like the idea, but I think the model could look a little less WoW-ish? It kinda resembles the Dreanei mount?

But this is the first we've seen of it so im not that worried right now. I like the armor on the head/top and the huge blades.

oh and yeah..the only problem is...that its too tall i rkn..and not steep enough (as everyone said). i think they should still have that armour hat..but make it look smaller and shorter...and....yeah it still looks good

The blades are ok, though I don't see why it would need 3-4 pairs

The horn on what I think is it's face is unnecessary and feels like that nerubian hero from warcraft

Overall the concept is imo better than the one from Ghost trailer, but 3d makes it look worse than it should be

GOOD Jumping Jehosaphat on a moped that looks ULTRA!

Allthough, they should "imbed" the head more as you don't want to be able to target the head on such a tank oriented unit - or do you? (Ghost's snipe?)
