Unentschieden makes a good point, Thor shouldn't be able to fly. This will give Thore the ability to move over cliffs, amongst other things, and cliffs are a key element for positioning artillery. So climbing your Thor on a cliff would give you a hughe advantage because it would protect him from most ground units. Not to mention you could easely move Thors over the cliff and inside the enemy base while protecting the cliff with the rest of your army.

However, I think the there still is a problem of not being able to move Thor on island maps. Also, it seems to me that Thors are a bit too slow. Lets say you build a Thor on one side of the map to destroy the enemy base there. When you're finished with that base you need to attack another base at the other end of the map. How will your Thors get from one end of the map to the other? You can either walk with them the whole way, which will drasticaly slow you down and expose your base to a counter attack, or you can simply leave your Thors behind and leave those very expensive and powerful units at the mercy of your opponent. You see what I mean, Thors are like a one-shot weapon - once you've used them you will have to leave them behind else they would slow down your army too much.

So my suggestion is: salvage Thors. I know its not the best solution but its the only way out of this situation. First of all you could use this to move your Thors on island maps. When you're done with them on one island you salvage them and build them on another island. This would still take a long time, but at least you could move it from island to island without giving it the ability to traverse cliffs. This would also solve the problem of traveling from one end of the map to the other. You begin a siege, you build Thors, destroy the enemy base and then you salvage Thors. And now you can use them at another location without having to wait 5mins until they slowly travel to their destination.

I think salvaging Thors would be available. It's so big like a building, it should be salvaging like a building. And the key to SC was mobility. Everything could be transported. If Thors cannot be transported, they should be salvagable.

The only problem is when the enemy successfully captures an outpost and you just salvaged the Thor guarding it.

I don't think they should be able to fly. Just look at them, they look waay to bulky to be able to transform to something that can actually fly. I think they should be able to be salvaged but you should only get back like 50-75% of its cost if it got 100% health left

i can't imagine blizzard will allow the thor to be able to fly by themselves, they would have to require some sort of assistance

i believe they will be transportable on Dropships.except that they will enter in a new category:units that takes up all 8 slots.i believe the Colossus should fit in this one too.

otherwise, the salvegable thors would be nice, except that you'd have to carry SCVs everywhere you went, and they (the SCVs) could be easily targeted....

it would be best to salvage a thor in a base, you wouldn't want to salvage a thor on the battlefield anyway.

Thors wont probably fit in something 10 times smaller than itself. And, even if the Thor takes up 8 slots, it wont help. The dropship in starcraft 2 only has 4 slots. (i wish it had the good old 8 slots...)
And the Colossus will actually fit in the new shuttle (phase prism) because the phase prism turns the units into energy and stores them in its crystal lattice core, or something.

they'll probably need to re-calibrate the energy signatures first

    @ijiffrie

i dont think phase prisms and thors belong to the same race(lol), nor that you can transport allies, and... -why did you ask lol?

oh, that makes sense, haha. but since its a cross-race-custom-lol-map, don't worry about that. If you are not worried about crossing races, don't worry about small details like that.

It's an ability on some Terran buildings that gives back the resources that were required to build it.

it think that in order to transport the thor it would take u like 2 dropships... and they would drop some hooks or somting... so he doesnt actualy get in the dropship beacuse hes soo big..... its like transporting artilery with helicopters they dont put them in, they just tie it down on the heli and the hely lifts it

yeah i can image 2 dropships attaching grapplers to the thor and transporting it that way, the thor would simply hang from the dropships. one question is should the dropships be able to carry units inside at the same time?

    ^ Nah i don't think so

i don't even think 2 dropships would be able to carry a Thor, may by 4, would be more balanced so because Thor is top tier after all
