Salvage is not meant as Recycling like in C&C, it is supposed to be part of the Terran mobility. It will most likely take quite some time to salvage a Building meaning you would have to start deconstructing it just as the enemy attacks and you don´t even know if you have to give up that position.

Lorewise one of the Thors advantages is the ease in wich it is constructed, it would make sense if it could be deconstructed just as easily.

no,no and no.that would be an easy way to have a "second chance".
i explain myself:imagine you build 10 marines and 3 thors, and you encounter 15 enemy cobras/immortals(example) in your way.youd be scared, right? so if you could salvage you would just have to let those 10 marines sacrifice and run with the thors and then salvage them and voila, your bad made strategy wouldnt have such a bad ending.maybe the numbers i put here arent the adecuate, but you get my idea.

and to avoid not making them in island maps,i really would like them to be transported in one transporter, occupiying all slots in it.(i dont like those crazy ideas of battlecruisers carrying them around with ropes)

at first i liked that idea but then i realized it was much more than that.if you can lift off a thor then you can scape from a mass of zerglings/zealots,which i think will good units against them for reasons of swarming and good speed to surround him.

Even if you can only transport 1 Thor per Dropship it would allow devestating drops. Imagine 3 fully charged Thor unloaded next to your HQ, immeadiatley unloading their 250mm.
Untill we get exact times it would make sense to imagine that salvaging takes just as long as constructing, in the Thors case that would be 100 sec. That is freaking long during combat. If you can"rescue" your Thor long enough to salvage it with these times you deserve it.

Yes, but is that really an imbalanced trait? Since the Thor has lifted off it has now been neautralized. Bring in the air support and he's done for.

Not really a problem as you can still force it to the air.

well, you said that about bringing the air force...but in that time i could also bring my own troops, and one unit who should already be dead,as is that thor is still alive.balancing the game in my favour.or i could also bring my airforce and fight yours, leaving you unable to attack the thor unless you want to suffer heavy losses.

Ground forces could still easily take it out of commission and it adds an element of being able to move the Thor.

Make it an upgrade and then it's simply an ability with which you will have to deal. Not all changes in the weakness of the unit are BAD.

You could argue until you were blue that the blink ability of the stalker makes it impossible to kill it, but the name of the game is that it's different.

in that case i would say yes,but with one condition: if the thor is damaged, you get less money.the more damage it has received, the less money you get.and of course, the thor must stand still during salvage.

and that thing about the dropships: well,if you are crazy enough(not talking about you especifically) to leave your base undefended by air, then you deserve a thor dropment.some turrets + some antiair will destroy at least one transport, meaning a LOT of resources lost in a second(dropship+thor) and that counting that you didnt scout him well enough to intercept those dopments before they get to your base.by the time anybody gets to the thor you should be already high in the tech tree and have the whole are near your base very well controled to prevent this dropment,as its not a fast one at all.

I still vote for allowing the Thor to lift off and slowly float. It'd be completely vulnerable while in the air and would be extremely slow. Even though this halts the ability of melee units to attack it, it seems like a fair match for me.

Plus, being able to salvage the Thor by cost even factoring in its HP is simply unfair. It should at LEAST cost some minerals to disassemble it. So... 75% HP = 65% cost return.

i saw the thor needs at least 3 dropships to tow it by rope. you could have more, but if it ever goes down to just two, the thor crashes. also, attaching the ropes would take some time. and, it would still be very still, only slightly faster than the thor could walk

That's just way too complicated if you ask me.

It's not like the Thor doesn't have enough power to move itself...

it does, but not enough to fly. anything short of a battle cruiser engine won't be able to lift it

salvage is not even instant of i remeber right. it was over time like the UNDEAD unbuild off WC3. By the time salvage works if ur under attack u might lose money from the attacks. But because of thors shity moblity it dose need some way to move around. I suggest a double drop ship lock on and carry system be put in place to end this. But i strongly think blizzard wont do anything about this because they dont want thor being to over abused.

So how much would you say a Command Center weighs compared to a Thor?

I would think their interplanetary thrusters would be enough to lift the Thor just like a building.

Even that kind of flying would allow the Thor at least to "Jump" ledges, a advantage the unit isn´t supposed to have. The Thor is not kept alive by running around, it is kept alive by its huge HP and Repairs.

    where did you see that?
i hope you are wrong.the idea of the ropes seems like a bad idea to me.i mean, its not a ballon, its a thor.it weights tons and pieces would break if its moving engaged by ropes.you are not lifting a dog,its like moving a building by tying it with a rope!

yea lol. it'd be awkward to see it pulled by 3 dropships.
on another note, it'd be neat if starbases could stransport thors and other units.

It's like all those people wanting all the mothership weapon options back. Like it would be possible, but impossible to play a balanced game. The Thor should remain grounded.

Can a damaged building be salvaged for a "full refund" so to speak? If a building is burning down and ready to collapse, then it wouldn't make sense to get a full return on investment.
