Maybe. Speaking of shot down, is there any AA that can have an affect on the marine drop? or any defence against it?

AA wouldn't even notice it until it drops down to the ground.

If AA could shoot them down why use them over Dropships?

No one said they could or at least no one knows that fro sure...its no told for so they just might get destroyed by missile or they might be invulnerable.

those drop pods remind me of C&C 3 where you could drop those pimped out beam soldiers... and those pods were invulnerable

The Thor is build by a SCV like a Building and can´t be transported, deconstructing it once it served it´s purpose on a certain landmass could be a way too avoid blowing it up yourself to free supply wich might feel like a waste.
On the other hand you would gain back a significant amount of resources that makes it easier to switch strategies.

I don't think so. As much as it resembles a building, it is still a unit.

there will be a solution for the thors lack of mobility. i dont think it will be salvage.
for island maps it will probably be dont build them. haha. or cheat like the guy at blizzcon.

i doubt it, most terran buildings aren't salvageable.

this would be a huge imbalance

right before it dies, you can use it and you get ur minerals and gas back...how cheap is that?

actually, minerals from salvage are based on the hp, so you would get like 40 minerals back

I think this is actually an excellent question that blizzard needs to answer. However, I feel like since thor is technically a unit and not a building (despite being constructed by SCVs) that I should not be able to be salvaged for resources.

No because it's not a building. Only buildings are salvagable.

Definitely no and salvage on buildings should be tweaked. 100% back? that's just awfully imbalanced, I'd say between 60% and 40%.
Why would it be based on hp? You could build somthing for 200 minerals that has 1200 hp...

he meant percentages, if its 200 minerals and 1200hp when full, you only get 150minerals if its at 900hp.

    75%hp=75%cost
    50%hp=50%cost
    and so on.

eh, the thor salvage concept is interesting. i dont know why u woudlnt be able to... i mean it's a freaking building of a unit. also i'm pretty sure scvs can take parts off a thor...
