Ok, I forgot there is no more plasma ray.

But the problem I mention is the model of battlecruiser. This unit is too fat, it is like a toy. I want a more serious form for this unit.

And maybe for the Crucio tank too, it is too toyish ...

Really? The Terran units are too Fisher Price still?

Haven't you looked at the latest build...?

  4. StarCraft is StarCraft because it is StarCraft and StarCraft made StarCraft what it is so StarCraft is perfect as it is.

That's the most times I've seen the word Starcraft used in a single sentence. XD

Maybe they want to attract a larger audience. ;)

Pff. I like both kinds of Terran, pre-gritty and gritty.

My main gripe with the unit design is that the protoss have become to 'insect-ey' like the Zerg. The original Protoss had more elegant, monolithic, simple designs - now their style is gaudy, bedazzled insecto-bots.

  12. How do they look "insect-y"?

Most of them besides for the zelot,dt,templar are pure steel and mechanical compair a stalker to a hydralisk and i'm pretty sure they look pretty different.

I dont like the new zerg defence structures.

  14. I agree. The Spine Crawler looks pretty weak.

To quote my original post, "The original Protoss had more elegant, monolithic, simple designs - now their style is gaudy, bedazzled insecto-bots."

I don't feel this way about all units, just some - off the top of my head, the Phoenix's really sharp wings look way too Zerg, the Nullifier isn't sharp, but it's basically a trilobyte which is more Zerg. The Mothership should have more soft round edges instead of some weird sharp radial arms. The new Nexus is way too bedazzled, the simple clean monolithic look is more appropriate for the Toss. The Colossi are sweet but would be more protoss if they had less sharp forms. Finally, the Zealots are skinnier like insects, and they're whole infantry is robo-arachnids. This is not necessarily bad, but they could tweak things to make them more distinct. The Immortal is closest to old Protoss feel, I think, but they could still be way better. I think the Void Ray, Carrier, Observer, and Phase Prism are much better evolutions of the original Toss design language

Look at the original boxart, and think of the units:

Round, elliptical curves, simple, elegant surfaces with tribal patters/logos, etc.

I'm not talking about materials, I'm talking the shapes of the unit's armor and the units themselves. If you took off the armor and made the Phoenix, Stalker, and Colossus organic units, they'd look pretty much like Zerg.

  17. So, animalistic looking = Zergish and Zergish = Insect-y? I'd think there was a huge difference between, Zerg-y, insect-y, and animal-y.

What about Reavers which were basically caterpillars and Carriers which were Banana Boats? I don't see that that much has changed and other than the Nullifier (Trilobyte) I disagree.

I'm sure I'll be pretty happy with the Toss designs when they come out, I guess I'm just picky since I'm an Industrial Design major. I think the Protoss concept artist is still making 'em to jagged. I guess I don't mind the naturalistic inspiration as long as they're not too jagged like the Phoenix - that's not abstract enough.

The DT has no Protoss armor. It comes from an external tribute which does not respect the order. They have no protoss combination. No protoss armor. they are like independent and selfish warriors without any armor on them, except some parts of trophees from zergs they killed.
That's why some of the DT have a face of a hydra. The Stalker is not insectoid. who said that ?

The zerg are insectish, and they must stay like this. In the storyline anyway it is written that the Zerg come from a larva. So already a larva is an insect. so the zerg are insects. who infects animals to create new insects.

the Zerg are described as insectoids, meaning they have many similarities with insects on Earth, that doesnt mean they are insects. Just as the Protoss are described as humanoid beings, but they arent humans.

even if their most basic 'unit' is the larva, it was still described as insectoid.
