[The Xel'Naga Race]

ya I've seen that pic but I've always thought that was the conclave, but i guess they were to big to be protoss huh.

I voted for zerg+protoss cause Xel'naga maked protoss and zerg, mayb like God maked us at His own image (dont flame for God ;p) and I think that Xel'naga troops look like [img width=670 height=394]http://img340.imageshack.us/img340/9048/protossorthosconcepthv2.jpg[/img] cause they are similar to those on end movie of SC1, and Zeratul is getting know from Samir Duran about new power, Xel'naga

I used my camera instead of my scanner, since my printer is dead (oatmeal fell into the paper tray, of all places :upset:... long story). Thus the quality is...odd :-\

 

i still dont know if there the xel-naga. they look alot like protoss and I'm still think they could be the conclave because the protoss didn't worship the xel-naga until after they abandoned the protoss. which is what he appears to be doing in the picture. if i remember right, after the xel-naga made the protoss they watched them secretly for a while. when they finally decided to show themselves the protoss race went into civil war and there for didn't have time to start worshiping them. i may be wrong its been a while since i read it.

 

Hard to tell really.  What part of the manual was that.  I lost mine so I don't know what was printed next to which picture.

 

They do look a lot like the protoss, but this was page 73, which is before the conclave. What i didn't notice before, is that they have nerve tendrils too, the face and forearms are all that really differ, and you can't see the legs. IDK...though this is the section in which they spoke of the Xel'Naga involvment.
This is a full page image, and there is no text besides Metzen's name.

Actually the protoss worshiped the xel'naga once they landed on auir. The xel'naga actually lived amongst the protoss after that. Once the protoss technology expanded, they split into tribes and became suspicious of the xel'naga's interests. After they protoss became individualistic, forgetting the psionic link, the xel'naga realized they failed, and left. The protoss found out they were leaving and murdered hundreds of xel'naga.
Then the protoss turned on eachother in their confusion and anger brining about the 'Aeon of Strife' civil war. The conclave was created thousands of (or hundreds of) generations later, when Khas rediscoverd the instinctive psionic link they shared. Once rediscovered the protoss stopped the war, and formed the conclave. The conclave banned the teachings of the xel'naga, only one tribe is allowed to access their technology, for research.

oh ok so those must be the xel-naga. i didn't know they murdered xel-naga though O-o. wow the xel-naga got screwed over by both creations. they must of been pissed.

I found a pdf of the manual online for those of us who have lost the booklet long ago.

I'm honestly not convinced that these are Xel'Naga in the robes.

Tendrils? Look exactly like the ones the toss kneeling before it has.
That looks a hell of a lot more like some sort of ceremonial armor than the creatures actual forearm.

 

Hmm, if the Xel' Naga has the power to create new races and organisms, trying to create the "perfect race", why did they get owned by their creation? Logically, if they are that smart, they would know that when they create a race, they should not make it more powerful than themselves, or the race might turn on them, which is exactly what happened for both the protoss and the zerg. Seems like they didn't learn their lesson with the protoss. They should at least have set up certain precautions with the zerg in case they became like the protoss.

Also, when the zerg turned on the Xel'Naga, they did not have much organisms then, did they? From my information, the only organism they had was the drone. So the mighty Xel' Naga fleet fell to a worker rush? Only after defeating the Xel' Naga did they infest the space-faring beings, then went on to further infest the zergling, hydralisk etc.

So is the Xel' Naga really that great according to Samir Duran?

 

If you're seeking to create the perfect race, then you're obviously not the perfect race.

Therefore, to create the perfect race, you will have to create a race that is better than you are.

No. Actually, the Protoss were created first and were considered a failure. They contained only the purity of unity. The Zerg contained only the purity of essence, and so were also considered failures. However, the Zerg were the second attempt and so could be considered more "advanced" if the Xel'Naga had learned from their mistakes.

 

But I still don't understand why the Xel' Naga were defeated by a worker rush.

 

IMO Xel'Naga is Spirit. Ethereal form of live, not material. Or even - an idea, thought, allegory - which caused to raise both Protoss and Zerg.

 

I bet their more alien then the zerg and protos with the zerg being bug like and protos a little bit human a little bit predator I hope they can come up with an awesome concept thats mostly original for the Naga

 

Look at the doodads on the twilight map on sc1, those mechanic bug looking ships, radars and buildings scattered about. Also the statues may give us an idea what the xel'naga possibly look like...

But yea I say a combination of zerg n protoss with a organic technological look

 

I think they might look a bit like creeps on WarcraftIII like them purple demons.

Sorry about my double posting, but um joneagle . . . essence in terms of a race, are its basic instincts, drives, emotions, etc that make up the entire species. The zerg were purified with essence, so all them obey those same instincts enough to where they behave almost as a single entity. The overmind is essentially the essence of the zerg, acting as an omnipresent force that drives them all . . . its will is carried to each individual zerg body through the aid of cerebrates and overlords. So thus, they are purified in unity.

The protoss are not purified in unity, but form. If they were purified in unity, the aeon of strife would have never occurred. The protoss themselves had to work for unity by adopting the khali system, but they are not in essence as unified as the zerg.
