Does anyone remember Cannon Fodder? It was made at a similar time to Dune 2, but it wasn't rts, because you didn't build anything and there was no economics.

Cannon Fodder is a much more tactical game because you have to tell your units what to shoot at, rather than letting them auto acquire. And your units can collect different weapons to use in some missions. So while it's not rts, It certainly has an familiar feel to it.

Cool, but Dune 2 still owns it. I like to play that type of game sometimes, though. You should try the original Ground Control sometimes. Not the sequal, it was not that good.

But have you tried Dune 2? You also have to select every unit seperately in that game.

I played it a little in the 1990s at some point, and I did check it out again briefly not long ago. With the smooth graphics and interfaces I've used to with the blizzard games, I couldn't tolerate Dune 2 for long enough to figure it out :)

I have tried the original C&C Red Alert game too, which was from 1995 I think, but I can't tolerate that either.

So while I enjoy (and often prefer) the style of many old-skool games, rts is something I am a bit fussy about. I like what modern technology does for it.

I loved that game...I would play it for hours on end. I still have it somewhere around here but I can't find it. I'm defiantly about to download it.

Just finished Emperor, I didn't have any problem with graphics. Maybe except trying to tell infantry and some Ordos tanks apart.

In Dune 2000 I played with Atreides (y'know, the "good" guys), but after watching the intro, given the choice of the Speaker communicating thoughts of four connected minds and "some duke dude" I went with Ordos.
They're weak at first, but some of their units are great. L4Z0R tanks FTW!

You need at least 584k of RAM to play this game. I don't think my computer can handle this man.

    LMAO!!

Thanks for this, the first RTS game I played was the first Warcraft when it first came out way back in the day. However, I never was able to get around to playing Dune, I'll post my impressions of it after I finish it.
