The New Firebat

    The Firebats are great! its like a Goliath however as a Firebat! i like the change and if in the Barracks its fine by me, however as long as they are balanced

    No I just accidentally called the dropship the shuttle. Shuttle got replaced by phase prism.

    Fixed now.

    Firebat produced in factory makes sense because the devs could just say after the brood war the terrans decided to give some durability to firebat's armor because they died so easily in the original game. So the terrans upgraded the firebat's armor, but then it was too sophisticated to be manufactured in barracks so the firebats ended up being trained in barracks but fitted in armor in factories, which also gives explanation on the required list of buildings prior to building a factory.

    ANOTHER IDEA: If firebats are now built in factories, maybe they can be both mechanical and biological units. Just like SCVs! Making the firebats vulnerable to spells like lockdown(someone tell me if this is taken out) and plague.

    them being made at the factory doesn't bother me, as long as they are still considered infantry, so they can still get in bunkers

    plague affects everything regardless of what it is

    Lol. If firebats are infantry then they can go into drop pods, right? Firebats in drop pods with medics or SCV will be Hell for workers and some units in the front will make the enemey to think on his feet and will split his army somewhat.

    yeah, and why not scvs so they can build bunkers in the back while others are raping each other to death.

    I'd still load up all marines most of the time. The drop pod, in my opinion, is probably best for raising some hell, and disrupting the enemy than for real combat.

    There should be splash damage when the drop pod lands!! I'll wet my pants when I hear zerglings squeal when crushed by the drop pod!
    Zerglings: Hey look! a lone ghost! let's eat him!

    i dont like the firebats at all

    they look stupid

    their almost useless

    their taking the spot of a unit that could be much cooler and/or more effective
    4
    their taking the spot of vkgs in the factory (booting the predator out of the game)
    (btw) the predator was probably the coolest looking unit in sc2 :p

    it is unnecessary and lacks a good role right now

    but then again i play zerg

    I always liked the firebat. Best worker killer in the game, and up there for Zergling killer.

    but its only good for zergling n worker killer
    i think that they should drop it and put vkng back in and predator
    or
    drop firebat and get a useful unit for the factory

    Firebats were some of the best speciality units in the game. In early vanilla Starcraft, Firebats were the ONLY proper defense against high skill level Protoss (that utilized Zealots as the primary military unit). They were extremely handy against DT, Zealots, Zerglings and other Terran infantry. Also try dropping stimmed firebats with a couple medics and marines andw atch their miners die! 8)

    I see no reason to why Firebats need to go so that a totally different unit can come back.
    If the new unit was the Colossus, and the old one the Reaver, it would be a choice between two units with overlapping roles, and only one would stay. But this... I mean, why can't Firebats stay too, if Predators were brought back to life?
