    If it's Uber Mothership then it should be unique.
    If it's nerfed, then it shouldn't be unique.

    After all, I see the MS - nerfed version - as a lower quality replacement of the arbiter. And I prefer the latter.

    We can"t forget the very very very very first cinematic of Starcraft.
    Do you remember it ?
    There is at the end of this cinematic a scene where there is a huge vessel which launched a huge white ray on the terran vessel, and blew it up. According to Blizzard it was a mothership (have no evidence of what I'm writing but it was true). So the mothership could have the planet cracker again cause I don't explain which ability could launch a huge white ray except the planet cracker.

    Yes- Blizzard has said that the ship in that cinematic was the inspiration for the Mothership, as in, "we want to make a crazy-powerful unit like that!"

    Also- the Mothership is not a Xel'Naga unit, it's a Protoss unit. The lore behind it is that is a kind of ship that the Protoss used ages ago, but then retired, but now they're having to bring them back into service (like the Colossus.)

    It's a bit of the "we used to be really good at this war stuff" -theme that seems to be coloring the Protoss in SC2.

    Actually, Motherships were used for exploring, not for war. At least according to the lore on the official site.

    Also: the Mothership isn't the only Protoss vessel with a huge energy beam on it. Those were only taken back into service after Brood War, but the Protoss could already target a whole planet at once during the original game. So the Planet Cracker isn't really that special.

    It could be "that" special if we could use it (Planet Cracker) in-game :D

    The Protoss destroyed Mar Sara which was being infested by the Zerg. They burned the whole planet. Did they use their Motherships and the planet cracker ability, or mass carriers and air units to burn the planet ?

    If they used the Motherships why hadn't they used them already in Starcraft 1?

    Does it still have those cool special abilities (planet cracker, time bomb and black hole)?

    Not that' it's of any importance, since you'll never use it anwyays. At least not in a serious game that ends within a reasonable amount of time.

    But on the thread subject. I think the motherships abilities should be buffed, so the spells a mothership has is more effective than a couple of sentries or 2 high templars. Or just a larger cloacking field.

    seriously, the mothership needs much stronger support abilities. it should be the ultimate protoss support vehicle- cloak really isn't an issue, since it's one of the latest-tier units, detection will be everywhere unless you're doing a mothership rush.

    recall: the mothership is too slow to charge past enemy lines and recall an army like the arbiter did in SC1. mostly a useless ability, given how warp-in does a pretty good job already. it's also one of the slowest units in the game, so by the time you get your mothership into position to recall somewhere, your army could have walked there in half the time.

    vortex: it has its uses.

    what it really needs:
    1. shield battery. good boost for most armies, really help out immortal armies.
    2. energy recharge. greatly boost HT/sentry armies.

    I would like to bring the arbiter back and that the mothership does not cloak units.

    My opinion is you should have more than 1 mothership just not to many. I agree they should either make it cost a hell of a lot of minerals or make it cost a hell of a lot more unit points. Heres another idea, Blizzard should pick a number they think is reasonable and make it a seperate unit count for motherships. For example I would pick 3, so it would be 0-200/200 for all other Protoss Units and 0-3/3 for motherships. Sort of like how it is in Halo Wars with building spartans for the UNSC (you can only build 3 spartans and you can't build anymore until one or more is destroyed).

    As for the mothership abilities I reckon the abilities should be useful and unique and possibley even dangerous. It should be the most dangerous unit because in the official SC2 site the mothership is described as being holy shrines to the protoss. The site also says that motherships can warp and crack the very fabric of space and can wipe out squadrons of enemies or lay waste to an entire planet.

    I don't know if this website is up to date though so the info could be old or wrong. But I reckon they should bring the planet cracker ability back they should just make it last for like 10 seconds or something

    The Mothership, as a very powerful and exceptionnal unit, should have more shield. I know if it has more shield, more armor, more attack it will be OP. But the shield is important. it dies too quickly. But it moves too fast again.

    They should make it so the max you can have is ZERO

    I think they should make black whole smaller and give the ability to another caster for 150 energy or something.

    The white ray came from the ganthritor, Tassadar's vessel. Carriers have a lot more to them in lore than just carrying interceptors.
