One of the games that had the biggest influence on me was Quest for Glory : So you want to be a hero ? ( the reworked version ) , a good ol' adventure game. The other was UFO Enemy unknown .

Zelda and Metroid, and can't forget about Goldeneye that game was AWESOME when it came out and set the standards for FPS on console.

I like Perfect Dark better though.

Haha! This is really odd....its not a legendary game, actually its far from it, but it was THE game that got me into video games that I forgot to mention when I made this topic...Mario Tennis. Haha, I played it when I was around 7 or 8 and from then on, I just got into video games non stop. :p

But THE game that got me aware of video games in the first place though is probably Ocarina of Time.

For RPG: Planescape: Torment, if you haven't heard of this amazing game, shame on you.
RTS: Starcraft though this one was obvious
FPS: Probably Doom 1 or 2, both great games
Can't forget Super Mario Brothers, any of them basically, or Duck Hunt
All I can think of for now

I can´t belive no one mentioned Deus Ex yet (RPG-FPS).

Also the Thief series is the true father of the "sneakers" (MGS is still great though). The cradle level in the 3rd part is truly epic - "It´s still warm... GREAT".

Planescape: Torment is a Jewel especially if you don´t want cliches

Serious Sam, the most entertaning Graphics demo (no joke, after they finished it they realized it was good enough to be sold, it was intended to show off their engines ability to display huge areals.) 15 Mins of mindless shooting never hurt anyone ;)

Secret of Mana was so good it spawned a fanproject to Translate the sequel (actually prequel)wich was never "officially" localized in the West.

Adventures? Anything by Lucas Arts basically, Fate of Atlantis was my first game ever! And I still know the "bones song" from Monkey Island 2...

    Thats it for now.

It seems as if everybody has a game which they are embarrassed to say is their favorite, like one of mine: F-Zero GX for the GameCube. It's based on the F-Zero games, and needs more recognition, because I think it is one of the best games ever created.

Yes, this was one of the best and most influential games for me as well.

My favourite game is the Heroes of Might and Magic series.

Can't believe no one mentioned Dune 2 yet. Talk about revolutionary.

Monkey Island, probably the best adventure game ever.

Wolfenstein 3D started the FPS frenzy, no?

Doom is the official Father of FPS. But when talking about Adventures don´t forget Maniac Mansion and Day of the Tentacle.

How so, though? It's like overlooking Dune 2 and saying Warcraft is the father of RTS?!

As for adventures, yes, Manic Mansion and especially Day of the Tentacle were fabulous ones, it's just that I think Monkey Island (especially #2) is the best of them all.

Doom raised the first real Interest in FPS, just like C&C did even though Dune 2 came before it.

I know it's not the newest thread, but speaking of legendary games... how could no one mention Fallout?! I didn't like it much 'cause it's not my setting, but the game Is a legend nonetheless. And with sequel coming out too.

Also titles like Ultima or Dungeon Keeper
