The Marine Shield

The amrine shiled looks a bit unfashionably for a game like starcraft II

Ok, now that I know that the shield add hp im not that bothered about it.

Now the marines need an upgrade which gives them a horse to increase moving speed and a sword to give them melee dmg and we're set.

 

#1 the swords sort a taken care of, bayonet upgrade though i'm not shure.
#2 they've got dropships

you know who had shields? spartans. and spartans are cool.

 

So it is definitely confirmed now, right? Bayonets do exist as we see in one of the screenshots for the Warp Ray

 

no they already said it adds some HP

 

Any info on the bayonet ? Does it do anything?

 

it looks sexy so far, that's all we know.

spartans ahd round shields, but these shields are even more awesome none the less

 

They are romanesque sheilds and the roman legions were even cooler than the spartans

 

I bet the spartans could kick the roman's asses.

 

Yeah but Roman shields that were big were more heavy duty-matching the role of the Roman legions as stronger, slower, and more protected than the faster, more agile, and less protected Spartans

although they both used them for similar purposes

You are taking your knowledge of the spartan hoplite from 300. The Spartan Hoplite was the most heavily armored fighting unit of it's time. They had a corslet, greaves, and helmet; a double-grip, concave shield with bronze veneer; a wooden spear that was 7 to 10 feet long, and a secondary short iron sword. The helmet, breastplate, and greaves were constructed entirely of bronze, reaching a thickness of about a half-inch. Their entire outfit was between 50 and 70 pounds.

Are you saying that 300 was not an accurate depiction of actual historical events??

 

I know I'm gonna get flamed to the pits for saying this but, I didn't think the movie 300 was all that great. I don't understand why people think it's a big deal. I have more fun reading these little historical tidbits from Paragon than watching the movie.

But anyway, to get this thread back on topic, I've personally accepted the marine shield because it's an upgrade that serves a purpose, even though I don't like it visually.

But something I like to point out is that, in screenshots, the shields look deceivingly good. Because from the camera angle(the "commander view" that I suspect most people would play their games in) we see in most screenshots, the shields look like one solid color.

But the shields are actually white with team color border and a team colored emblem of sorts, the emblem being the worst part for me personally. All the screenshots put up as evidences to convice people that the shields look good are almost all of this top-down camera angle that makes them appear to be one solid color. Just a thought.

I didn't think 300 was as fantastically orgasmic as everyone else did

oh yeah and I noticed the thing about the shields not being one solid color and having designs on them

 

The battles were ruthless and awesome, well at least I thought they were. That's about the only reason this movies so kickass, but it's a very good reason .
The shield looks exacly like the shields for my space marine commander dudez.
Anways... I dont mind the look of the sheild. I mean it's pretty cool and all.

oh and just so everyone know, my being Persian has nothing to do with my lack of enthusiasm over the movie

but you can't deny that the fighting was intense and well-choreographed
