That's how things tend to work on this forum.

Actually, the real problem is that often posters don't even bother to read the whole thread. I specifically said twice that this was meant ONLY for the campaign as a storied doodad.

    *Sigh* but alas....

how would raynor know how to remake it though... it's destroyed and it's the only one. also, a giant gun isn't a very good weapon. the psi disruptor was a great weapon, because it destroyed the zerg from the inside. if the terran get a new static d in campain, it should be cool like a building with a radius (sort of like the pylon) and have all zerg weaked inside)

Well... Raynor destroyed it, so he might know how to put it back together.

Mind you, I believe in the campaigns it couldn't be BLOWN UP, but first had to be disassembled.

And furthermore, I would assume this is a weapon of some power as it was supposed to be able to destroy the Protoss fleet. That was part of why Raynor wanted it destroyed.

It doesn't really matter to me. There's no REAL reason to bring the Ion Cannon back... it would just be a reminiscent image.

yeah, they'll probably make some other super weapon of some sort rather than the ion canon.

Mengsk and Duke were protecting the cannon, which was meant to shoot enemy spaceships. This way they avoided Raynor, who was pissed at them, to escape with his own forces from the platform in his dropships. So the point of the mission was to play with raynors forces (blue) against duke (white) and mengsk (red) forces and attempting to destroy the cannon.

This special structure will still stay a special structure. We will just see this in the campaign, not in multiplayer of course.

This structure will not be usable in the game. We'll use this structure (as I hope) but just in a cinematic. I don't know for the scenario, but a whole race, or just a faction must seize this structure to use it. This will be the objective of one mission. Once done, we'll see a cinematic where the whole race, or the faction will use it.

I am referring to the last mission of the Protoss in Brood War. The Protoss had to go to the Dark Templar temple (if I remember well) to refuge there. Then they activated a SUPER nuclear bomb to clean their planet Shakuras from the Zergs.

All right, I know what you are thinking about that. Nothing new. Than to use the dark templar temple, we'll use the ion cannon. Well . It could just be an intermediary mission and cinematic. But spectacular !!

Anyone know if it was a terran design or did they steal it's plans from the UED when they we're exiled from the earth sector, just saying because for some reason it doesn't seem like it was terran made because it never showed up again. Maybe every orbital platform comes standard equipped with a devastating weapon but raynor only destroyed it because it was the path of least resistance blocking his escape.
I think it would actually be very interesting to have special campaign units like the ion cannon that make the singleplayer experience as unique as possible. I hope they don't overdo it with heros like wc3 was in my oppinion but, every once in a while playing a one time only unit would be fun.
