My guess would be the Immortal s being attacked from something not in the screenshot. (like a siege tank)

@ Indigent, no i just said the graphic might apply to all attacks, not the effect.

Thats a good point but I don't see an explosion. How much damage do you think a ghost do? Maybe it was cloaked I'm going to look.

no you guys still don't get it, the shield will activate on every attack - because damage is still done to the immortal.

the effect of the shield is that no single attack can do more than 10 damage to the immortal, if the damage is less than 10, then the shield still activate but it willl have no effect in terms of reducing damage, however the shield is still preventing the immortal's hp from being damaged.

kinda like multiplying 0 by any number, the damage is still 0 if you get what i mean

I understand what your saying Reaker and hink you answer is probally most plausible but it is also possible there is something where not seeing in that screen hell it could even be both.

i think the first demo video back in may is why everyone is confused, because the guy said something like "they have a special shield that only activate on powerful attacks" so everyone thought there were 2 shields

however after seeing all the evidence available now, the most like explanation is there is only one shield, it begins as any normal protoss shield but after the upgrade it'll gain the special ability.

So the hardened shield and regular shields are the same? Because if it is I get it now.

Maybe we're overlooking the mechanics of it.... I didn't re-read, did anyone who actually played the unit say that the damage had to come from one unit to activate it? Maybe even a group of units will activate it and only allow 10 dmg per a certain amount of time....

I hope that's not the case, and if it isn't the next best explanation is that a Battlecruiser or Tank just shot the unit and the shield hasn't turned off.

I know this is about immortals' shield but I guess since this is about the immortal I'll ask it here. I've hearding conflicting report for the immortal. Can it attack both ground and air or just ground? None of the pictures I've seen show the immortal attacking air.

I haven't heard of a definite report, but the general consensus is that it only shoots ground units.
