The Emo/Screamo Thread

Yellowcard is Pop-Punk.

That basically describes a typical punk venue, take CBGBs for example lol

 

Eh....I'm not a huge fan of Pop-Punk. Why do you ask? One reason is because it is the exact same vocals...every..single...time. Actually, I think Yellowcard is the reason I started to dislike it in the first place

Don't get me wrong, some are fine, but most of them I just don't have too much love for.

 

Haha yeah. Newer stuff is kinda meh. I'm personally more fond of older pop-punk.

 

lol. speaking of great guitars, dream theater rocks. although many people consider them as emo, which is very wrong.

but i'm really fond of screamo. i listen to bands like underoath and city of caterpillar often and my sister doesn't really like it that much. lol.

 

I have a wide range in taste actually. I listen to stuff from Circa Survive to Dragonforce. Or Even The Mars Volta to At The Throne of Judgment.

 

Haha, Dragonforce...Herman Li is one HELL of a guitarist...the only thing I'm not a fan of is that they make all their songs sound like a quest or a journey...i guess that's what you get when you're inspired by 80s-90s video game music

Why is EMO releated to punk? I think Sid Vicious wouldnt like EMO.

When screamo was still cool; 'city of caterpillar', great band! But emo has always been crap.

 

you're the one who don't know emo at all. if you feel insulted then you better review your history lessons. maybe you don't even know if hardcore is connected to punk.

 

Off course 'maybe I don't even know', there is always a maybe. You are stating the obvious. But I know for myself that I know, which should be sufficient.

In music there are other variables than only history, there is a musical evolution. Every type of music eventually comes from classical music or world/folk music but most of them lost their resemblance thus making it something else. Death metal lost its resemblance to the 50’s rock ‘n roll. Humankind lost the resemblance to the pre- and early-mammal life.

A part of the hardcore scene evolved into emotional hardcore and screamo (which still does have resemblances with hardcore and still is a type of) and eventually into emo rock, by that time the music changed too much, thus losing its status of being a ‘type of’.

Emo is NOT a type of hardcore music.

 

Metal... and emo? If I didn't myself find it a very childish resort, I'd soooo give you a powerdown for that statement. Grr.

screw emo music. It's not worth being called music.

 

I dont like it either, but its music, most of the crap people listens to these days I dont like. However I dont understand why the music must be reflected on the way people dresses, and dont get me wrong, Its not cos I dont like emo that I think how they dress and comb their hair sucks, cos I also think its pointless for a metalhead to dress all in black and have long hair.

 

Well,Linikin Park is screamo but I loved it anyway.

Agreed. I dress how I want because I like it. I'm actually the only one out of my friends who dresses like I do and my music taste is very wide, unlike my friends to be honest.
