Colossi are great as they are, there's no need to upgrade them any further. Just take them for what they are, anti-ground.

But it is nice that there is a shield upgrade for the colossus, adding 50 to its shield. It's balanced because it will be costly and has a long upgrade time.

The colossus has 325 shield and 450 hp that i know of lastly, i mean thats a lot of freaking health.

Thats almost as much as what Thor had, imagine if it cant be targeted by air or he can target air, whats to stop a player from just massing them?

I dont think the colossus needs any drastic upgrades to be effective like siege mode for the siege tank or stimpack for marines.

What stopped most people from massing BC in sc1 during non-mineral map, b-net matches? Cost.

The colossus is going to be a very expensive unit. The colossus is most likely going to be a ground version of the carrier in terms of mineral and gas requirements.

Plus, the colossus has no AA capabilities, making them extremely vulnerable to any player with even the smallest air force. Also, the enemy would most likely scout your base and see the colossi being produced since the colossus will have a long build time. Thus, your enemy would build a few air units to easily counter them before you have a large enough force to fight effectively.

It takes up 6 supply from what I've read, so yeah, it's in the same tier as the Carrier.

You mean higher tier is not always higher supply. That is true but higher supply tends to be higher tier.

The truth couldn't be any better. The colossus has become my idol unit for sc2. I will be extremely disapointed if the colossus doesn't turn out to be the powerful unit I have learned it will be.

How about a giant laser beam that owns hydralisks?

As long as the colossus keeps its attack and looks, I'm happy.

not too sound harsh but i really hope developers are not like you or we gonna get a hell of a imbalanced game

Who exactly were you talking to. If it's me, the only reason I think the colossus should be good against the hydra is because of its superior attack and life.

The whole large beam thing was just a random idea and not even I'm too fond of the idea.

    Correction.

Colossus = Win, unless air units are involved. ;)

I think the colossus should be able to take down hydralisks. I mean the thing can be attacked by both ground and air and it can be ripped apart by air it looks like. So why not give it a good attack that can take down some tier 2 units.

My real question is if a unit can attack both air and ground and it can attack one or the other better how will it attack the colossus, I assume the more powerful one

Who said it won't be able to take down Hydralisks?
Also, are there even any units that have a more powerful air attack than ground attack or vice versa?

I don't think so for the ground units, but this has been disussed in another thread, forgot which one. And I posted a screen shot of Stalkers using the air attack insted of the ground one on some Colossus.
I'd say the Viking would be a good choice for taking down Colossus, cuz if you're ambushed simply transform them and deal powerful air damage.

But naturally if you/unit had the choice of using a ground or air attack on a large target, you'd pick the strongest one.

can the colossus attack air? in the protoss gameplay demo it doesnt fire back at the mutalisks. it seems like if you had a choice you would attack it with a unit in air form.
