    sitting on top of a dark obelisk while becoming invisible cool it can smack mutalisks while its up there

    no, its shields just melt and you first must destroy the obelisk before you can hit the collosus(another discussion solved)

    this idea solves this dicussions:
    a second use for the dark obelisk
    a upgrade for the collosus
    a new defense building for the protoss

    Eh... not sure how I feel about new protoss tower, their units are already strong enough for defense and they have the new moving towers. Stronger building defenses for the protoss in my opinion is rather useless because attacking outside bases with armies is a triviality in late game when your likely to have upgraded colossus.

    The colossi is already pwning the other unit's butts, this unit seems to be so strong, they are nerfing it, for this idea is a good choice, but this title is not a good idea

    My logic was stronger upgraded building defenses. Basic towers still help out early game especially for detecting and also protect people going for units high in the tech tree. Late game if you lose your army it's over, unless towers become overpowering they do not make a difference against 10 archons or 20 tanks or a couple swarms of lukers.

    Stronger building defences, with stronger units being added, defensive buildings need to be able to cope with the new situations.

    i agree, the stasis defence needs something to make it at least somewhat more useful later in the game, the protoss tower makes sence, but what about the terran and zerg stasis defence?

    the terrans have the radar tower,which is good for early warning or attack, the zerg will propably get a new defence as well, since both terran and protoss have.

    How about they can garrison units in sunkerns/spore colonies to increase damage and life stats. Each type of unit gives a different bonus; attack, defence, ect. for either sunkern or spore colony.

    I'm really interested to see the new Sunken and spore colonies :) As for the original topic, I'm sure Blizzard will give them some neat upgrades like the old Reaver had... sniff...

    I don't see why people think that the Colossus needs upgrades, like having an upgrade so that it is able to attack air units, because that is not what the Colossus is designed to do! It's like saying that Ultralisks should be able to jump up and take a swipe at air units. It's just that these units are designed for pure Anti-Ground, so why should it also have an Anti-Air attack? What is the reason for wanting it?

    to be honest i havnt been reading this thread much...

    so i may have missed some context...

    but i agree with what ItzaHexGor has just said,

    i dont think the colossus should have upgrades that change the role of it in any way.

    Upgrades for attack range perhaps, extra health perhaps, i donknow

    But anything that changes its role?

    Its a towering beast that can walk over cliffs creating interesting strategies and advantages.

    I'm quite content with that.

    For now, there is a upgrade that increases the amount of shielding the colossus has. As for that being in the game, for balance purposes, it may be scrapped or be less effective tha it currently is.

    I think the current upgrade brings the shield up by 100-150, can't remember the exact number.

    Yes, I think many of these points have been made before in this thread, but I'm grateful for the discussion nonetheless.

    Personally, I don't like Protoss units that way more hp than shields--I like it to be more 60-40, or even 50-50 hp/shield. The archon hp/shield ratio may change a lot--looks like they've got a much more substantial unit under all that psionic mess.

    But, I think I agree with all the respondents about the colossus abilities. It's a specialized unit, and is good as-is for the purposes of the game.

    I'll give it new abilities and change the strategies around when I make my own maps.

    The idea with the blue beam is good, but it would be better if the Colossus first a blue beam has and with a Upgrade a red has.
