    LOL ;D

Didn't expect to see many jokes like that on this forum

by the way, whet do you guys think about an upgrade to allow the colossus to do additional damage the way the warp rays do? causing more damage the longer the beam stays on a single target

would it be too powerful and unbalanced with something like that?

another idea is to give it a special ability to split the rays in different directions so the colossus can attack two units at once

the second idea could be a upgrade, but colossuses damaging like warp rays wouldnt work, because it would suck against masses of small units if that was to be implemented. The thing is, that masses of small units is exactly what the Colossuses are meant to counter.

While I very much like the idea of enabling the Colossus to attack 2 targets at once, I doubt it could be implemented easily. How would you tell it which 2 targets to attack? You'd need a global modifier key or something which you'd need to hold before clicking to make it attack with say its right lance (normal click controlling left). But the sight of two thermal lance beams sweeping back and forth independently makes my mouth water.

well, think of it like this; the thermal lances just avoid shooting the same target unless it is only, well ONE target. :p
If it is more than one target, they fire the lasers at two different locations rather than concentrating fire on just one unit.

If it worked like that then it would be just a matter of luck which unit it targets with its other lance. Besides it would be nice if I could order it to attack a unit with both lances if I wanted it to.

"a matter of luck"? it is a matter of luck what units your units will attack when you are doing a attack-move with them too you now. The thermal lances would work like making a attack move with two small colossus's. no big deal really.

But you can control units after doing the attack-move. With your solution to separate targeting, only one of the thermal lances can be controlled directly, which is not enough. Microing is everything you know.

ok, then let it be a button just for that then(when colossus selected), that lets you flip that on and off, which means that you can flip it to "focus fire" and "spread fire" or whatever they are supposed to be called.

I'm not very good with mircoing, but the idea was that one could be controlled by the player and that other would be done by the computer; attacking the closest unit to the colosuss

yea, my idea of the colossus acting like the warp ray would defeat the purpose of its existance. I was just brainstorming possible ideas

Awesome idea  It would be awesome if they had an ability or an upgrade like that.

Here's my idea: What if, when controlling a Colossus, and you tell it to attack an individual unit (let's say, unit A), it attacks with both beams. Then if another unit (unit B) come along and you tell the Colossus to attack it, then one of the beams will go it and the other will still focus on unit A. Then if a third unit comes along (surprise, surprise... unit C) and you order it to attack unit C, then the beam attacking unit A will switch to unit C. If a unit D comes along then the beam attacking unit B will switch to unit D and so on and so forth. It would be like alternating orders for each of the beams. If a unit A were to die while the Colossus is attacking unit A and unit B simultaneously, then they would both go to unit B until it is ordered otherwise. Any good?

what do you do if you want it to attack B using both beams?
