    Yeah that pretty much sounds about right. They need to start without and accumulate. Otherwise its not so realistic, although for campaign it really would depend on the missions and such.

    it would be sick to see a reaper covered in the blood of his enemies...

    It would be more likely that the reaper would be covered with the ashes of his enemies, after the get hit with his grenades at least

    no. his little close range pistols, blood would gush all over him. his d8's are for buildings arent they?

    Why would repairing something make it shiny, in reality it would make something even dirter as you as welding shit together scratching in the process and replaceing weak metal with the available metal and there would be no time to give it another paint job since its war.

    I doubt blizzard will make starcraft 2 be able to transition between shiney and girtty through time or stuff... maybe at best through how much health it has.

    However, if i had to chose one i'd probably take gritty. Make's em more awesome, and i also said it before the protoss are shiny and there's no need to repeat them.

    wouldnt welding make random clean spots from dirt and grime being burned off?

    Welding would at least make shiny spots, but healing marines wouldn't really do anything to their appearance
