I don't agree with nydus or baneling bust suggestions. First off, nydus is not a valid strategy or response in most games, and if it works you were probably way ahead anyways. It is gas heavy, easily killed if spotted, can only unload one unit at a time, and the terran player is usually camping in their base until their push. Even IF you do significant damage to their base because their army is in the field, they will just lift off their buildings and roll over your undefended base for the win. If you really want to dump units in their base, research drop and ovie speed.

Baneling bust- if scouted this is easily defended, and it is not a valid standard opening because it hurts your econ so much (typical baneling bust requires that you cut drones at around 15-16 in order to get timing right)

I'm not great (750 diamond) but I ZvT is my strongest matchup and I'd suggest learning to open one base. The standard these days is gas before pool, early zergling speed, and getting a semi-late expo anywhere from 22-30 pop. Speedlings and maybe a spine crawler to defend early hellion/reaper harass, and scout to see what their unit comp is. If they are going strictly bio, baneling/ling/infestor works great. Against biomech combo like marine/tank/thor, b.ling, speedling, roach, muta work v well. Against mech, roach/ling/muta. Grab additional expos whenever possible, tech to T3 around the time you are on or getting your 3rd base, and get some ultras/broods to finish game.

If you really want to put the heat on terran players early, play around with roach bust openings. If you see a depot-rax-depot wall and no tech lab (could be 1-1-1 build, marine tank, marine hellion push) a roach bust can be devastating. While your roaches are causing hell, power drones, grab an expo, and tech to lair for mutas to finish them off.

also, you should definitely watch dimaga and idra's games from IEM as they dominated most of the terran players they faced. GL

People seem to forget that Zerg is all about map control. All games I have lost is because I lacked that. And in all games I win I have map control. Also zerg is a reactionary race. As soon you see when your opponent moves out or If he techs you respond, absorb the attack and counter/expand.

If you let the Terran put up strong points you should bypass harass, take out expos etc. The Terran can't be everywhere at once.

Terran do not need a nerf, calling things out like that will turn this into WOW. Terran are fine, they are very balanced in my opinion. Yes they have the most options right now, but this is their campaign, hopefully with the new releases Zerg (which needs a lot) and Protoss will both get bumped up to Terrans level of good abilities.

However to nerf them, comman, just get a little better and beat them. Their wide arsenal of tools is as much of a disadvantage as it is an advantage, use it against them. We have to learn less and use it better, that is how I look at it. Blizzard will balance based on actual statistics I'm positive too. I'm sure it varies based on player skills too, it takes a lot more to be good at Zerg.

That zerg did everything a zerg should do on a tvz. Made me change my mind on Terran being OP.

I've slowly come to a point where I can finally beat my terran buddy in 1v1. At first it does seem that Terran just counters zerg but its all about getting the unit composition right and your overall gameplay.

If he is bunkering up and siege tanking then just expand. Your speedlings will cover the entire map early game. If bunkering is ruining your scouting get some overseers and changelings and dump em in his base.
Keep a force of mutas to counter his tanks but focus mainly on producing a good mixture of ground troops.

If he has walled off his main or expo with a bazillion turrets, tanks and bunkers just ignore it until you haver enough broodlords and expand more instead. Eventually the terran will need to expand and you will be able to prevent it (especially if hes gone heavy on tanks and defensive structures at the cost of his army). You will win the game through economic starvation.
