I thought that terain advantage was so melee units couldn't get to them as easy and ranged units could miss.

It should be interesting to get my hands on the new Crucio, it may cost more, but some resistance to troop attacks will be worth it. Bring on SC2!

What was it saying about enemies rushing into the "no-fire" zone? And it being the Arclite's weakness? Does that mean the Crucio will have a smaller minimum range, or was that just storyline stuff to explain why the Terrans wanted to upgrade it a bit?

I think that it has shorter range, but everything looks bigger so... Yeah.

They might have fixed that problem in other ways. For instance, the Crucio Siege Tank is much stronger, and we also heard that it has a little longer range. Shooting at enemies as far away as possible puts the dead zone more far away from the enemy.
The Crucio is also much stronger in Assault mode compared to the Arclite, so unsieging the Crucio before the enemy reaches the dead zone will be a more powerful move compared to unsieging an Arclite, since pretty much everything could destroy one, wether or not they currently had a dead-zone.
