    Automining isn't really a huge issue IMO. But MBS cuts off skill and lessens that learning curve you'd have to take when getting better at macro. Players will be less distinguished since everyone has good macro due to MBS.
    A week ago I never bothered with much macro, but now 've bumped up my macro game and realized its made me more deadly overall in the game.
    IMO, MBS simply cuts off dynamics as with many other new aspects of the game which I won't go into.

    But on the workers, I wouldn't mind going with Kuvasz suggestion to have it as a server option but the default stays at 4.

    Also, starting with 6 workers; wouldn't that not be in the Zerg's favour since the spawning of their Larva can't keep up with the faster intake of minerals, where the seemingly slower but stronger 1:1 race can now make that extra gateway or something to out-macro the Zerg, then it gets worse with MBS.

    well for all you zerg players if u think this has messed up ur starting the 2 extra drones are for you go get the jump on gas. U need gas to get ur defence and to be honest after watching the zerg you'll need the gas cause without a queen the other races seem like they have got zerglings beat. And even if your a stubbarn moron who dosent know how to correctly produce lots of zerg units the extra drones from the start will give u extra money. I would advise you to save it up and build more Hatchery for your own sake...

    As far as I'm aware, the mineral gathering rate remains the same at 8 minerals per drone.

    Also, MBS actually has less effect as far as balance as far as I can tell. Automining has more of an impact on your APM rate.

    i2new, the 6 worker start doesn't hinder the Zerg, it favours them. They will be able to pump out drones faster in early game, and will help them increase their income, pull up another hatchery sooner, etc.

    Also note that the Zerg player we've seen in multiplayer was really poor and zerglings were raped simply because the armies were roughly equal in number, which, in PvZ, is an automatic win for the Protoss. I think we should base our assumptions on those gameplay footages as loosely as possible.

    I'm not sure what you mean or if that was directed at me or not :D

    The way I see it, they are not forced to do anything. At the very beginning of the match though, the player will have to decide whether to go for mass zerglings (which will probably be an offensive strategy) or take an early gas and go for queen and her structures, plus a few zerglings to lure the enemy within the range of the colonies (defensive strategy).

    Keep in mind though that collision detection works smoothly now, which means mass zerglings will be easier to control and focus fire with.

    A possible solution to the 6 worker zerg advantage would be to make the zerg start with 2 larvas.

    I thought it was said repitvaly that 6 workers were not giving any advantage. And how would 2 larva at start is supose to slow down Zerg again? The missing larvae will be up before you start your second drone, again no change at all.

    I think Blizzard already thought about that very well before adding 2 additionnal workers, espacially IF the mineral income per trip is lower.. Balance is in their blood :p

    As long as each race has the same workers there shouldn't be a problem

    All it means is starting income with be 50% higher. That income increase won't give anyone an advantage
    The zerg will be able to get a pool more quickly but Protoss will have an equivalent decrease in the time to get a gateway and the Terrans will have a decrease in the time it takes to get a barracks


    Also you have to remember that SC2 is not going to be the same as SC1 anyway. If you attempt to use a SC build order you are going to lose so it is worthless to say how an extra 2 drones would decrease the time for a hydra rush or something anyway.

    kuvasz thats what i'm saying, I was not saying the extra drones will hinder the zerg. I was saying the extra drones could be put to good use. With the extra drones you could keep them on minarials or jump into gas as fast as possible as you'll need gas to reach a queen or fast roaches. The extra drones is going to work in everyones favor. I was just poking fun at every one who is agenst the extra drones.

    If its 6 times 8, then this will be the Zergs early advantage (3 larva). But it will hinder the Zergs build options in some way I think. Fast expo (12) can not be done on a small/medium map, because the zealot rush will be stronger than in SC1 (see the Savior Videos). 9 pool will probably always be used because the 200 minerals will be just available when you are producing your overlord.
    I think it can only hinder the game....

    Exactly. So many things now are making it automated or forcing you to do a certain something just to survive which I dislike.

    So you like the 4 worker like I, dont you or? I voted 4, and I think it will not be starcraft 1.5 with 4, but it will be warcraft 4 with 6.

    Just because the strategic options from SC are no longer necessarily advantageous does not mean that it's for the worse.

    *GASP* You mean we have to come up with new strategies? Totally unfair!

    we should all take a lesson from the borg on this one. Anyway, i think six would be better, but ill take whatever blizzard gives me.

    wow. u guys talk about rushing and zerg times being off... it sounds like somebodys needs to grow-up?? life changes and so do the video games we play... 4 or 5 years ago most of us gave up on SC2 and now its here. And this is what u have to show for a 10 year wait. U complain about 2 extra miners??? how about insted of waiting on 1 Hatchery you put those 2 extra miners to good use save up some cash and get 2 Hatcherys :) OH god the speed of the 2 new miners is beyond comprehension! Or better yet! u can jump right into gas and rush to a roach?(witch is said to beat out zealots...

    O...M...G... thsoe 2 extra miners seem pritty useful now..... atleasti think there gonna be useful.

    Its cool that you can give us critique, but why is 6 more usefull. We are stating reasons (not just some "ideas"), you are just letting crap out of your mouth.

    no... i have been on the post looking at the zerg beyond the start of the match and the people who are complaining are the guys who only use zerg for one thing. The perfectly timed zergling rush... there upset that the timing on the zerg is going to be off because of the extra miners who well make them money that they will spend faster. I think this is complete crap. Savior didnt even make roaches but yet he had enough time to reach them. U saw the video but i didnt comprehend it to well. The roach is the next unit up from the zergling but he didnt know that since he played the zerg the same day they came out and i guess didnt relize theres another unit to better fend off zealots. Lets not also forget about zerg defence witch is not to shabby... If your worried about zealots that much then you should make some defence cause when i watch that movie the swarm clutches were able to fend off the zealots pritty well for a while... Am i talking crap now ??

    Extra minerals is the obvious one. A scouting worker straight away if it doesn't hurt the economy.
