SMF is unsupported by its community so a lot of the features of this site have had to be coded by hand.

vBulletin has many more options that can be modified to suit our purposes.

 

Wait, are there going to be any graphical changes like layout, background, etc?

 

I think new layout would be kind of waste of this one, but I wouldn't mind if there was something even more awesome

That's not just a skin. EVERY site which uses VBulletin looks like that if you are talking about the lay-out. I personally hate those lay-outs. The skinning of those sites are usually pretty bad too.

Just look at this one: Relicnews Forum. I used to be on that one for the game Homeworld 2, but I started to hate the lay-out so much that I left the site. Can someone please confirm that we can still keep this lay-out for the site? It's a thousand times better then VBulletin's standard.

 

Neither of these sites look anything like the new layout, despite using VB.

The layout has changed somewhat, but the overall theme remains the same. I wouldn't worry about it.

I've already experienced how the software works and it's MUCH smoother and faster than the current system. So rejoice! Yay!

By the way, is there some kind of duplicate of this site where the admin is testing the changes, or is he using the current site in some way? I am asking this because of the fact that most of the Space Junk board got somehow deleted, and the fact that you have seen the new site in action. Do the global mods have admin rights or something?

 

I'm just privileged to be on at the right time.

The admin is currently testing the site and we should be ready for transfer at some point this week.

As far as Space Junk goes, it looks like it was an automatic purge.

 

Automatic purge? That sounds quite weird. Thats the first time I heard of this in a forum . Can you make sure this doesnt happen on the new system and the lost space junk parts will come back??

 

And how come only Space Junk got deleted?
