I noticed that she wasn't very good. Especially the one where she was talking to the coach, she kept throwing him off guard and the conversation was choppy at best.

Either she doesn't know how to ask questions correctly, or the coach has bad social skills.

It doesn't matter how it was interviewed, important is that such respectable news company like CNN took attention on StarCraft gaming world.

They still could have used a better reporter, but I get your point. Pretty interesting that a big news company would take their time to report on video games.

It is nice usually when they talk about video games it is to do someting like link Halo or Unreal with the latest school shooting because it is a violent game

Ya, but what can you say is violent about this game, mild blood? The whole violent games Makes violent people is completely blown out of proportion. My younger sister did a report on it in 8th grade and what she found was pretty amazing. Ever since video games were introduced to the world (mid 70's) crime rates for all kids ages 10-mid 20's has been going down.

While media wants people to think crime is getting worse, it is just the opposite. For those who don't believe me, the information my sister used were reports from FBI files. I'm not sure what site she used, but the graphs shown stated that crime rates for all ages has been decreasing for the last 30 years.

Actually the correlation between violence and video games also does not show what affects what. It is impossible to determine if violent games and TV make people violent or if people who are already violentare just naturally drawn to voilent games and TV shows. Most of the people who connect the two are exploiting a gap in logic of the majority of the populace andgenerraly also seem to miss that fact.

Cool, PK's post is on the homepage of the forum website! But about the violence, I can see what your getting at. For all we know, it may be TV that makes kids violent, not games. Or people that are violent to begin with are easier to attrack to violent games.

I always thought about it like this.

According to ESA, about 69% of people play video games, and an even higher percentage of males play video games. And there are a lot of violent video games out there. So if somebody does something violent in real life, just the fact that they are a person makes it extremely likely that they have played video games. So I view the whole violent video games leads to violence as nonsense.

And the same thing goes with TV. The vast majority of people have seen violence in some form, so somebody who does a bad thing probably has seen violence. The two are not related, because most people are not violent criminals.

Exactly, its hard to tell if people are violent from games and TV, or just had a bad childhood. Games don't make people evil, even if some adults claim it does and refuse to change their mind. I've played games for over 10 years and am one of the nicest, if not cautious, people you would ever know.

Yeah. The percentage of wackjobs in the world has probably remained unchanged since the advent of violent video games too.

Percentage is about the same. Problem is higher population = more wakjobs. Of course parents will blame it on one of the things they dislike and the easiest to accuse, violent video games.
